Lecivius -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (10/14/2015 1:25:00 PM)

Well, I've managed to make enemies of half the people on Matrix, so I think I'll wrap things up, go get a rifle, head out & kill something....

Going Elk hunting [:-][8|][:D]

Orm -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (10/14/2015 1:34:05 PM)

It is the moose hunting season here. [:D]

Orm -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (10/14/2015 1:38:43 PM)

Some 300,000 hunters shoot around 80,000 animals.

I have always wanted to go Moose hunting. The re-introduced them to Colorado several years back, and they are starting to make a come back. The have a season, but it is draw 80 tags statewide. I'm OK with that. I may go to Alaska one day, but I gotta get the kid through college first.

Geez, Orm! 80,000 moose a year? That's an incredible amount of mooses/meeses/moosenages/moose whatever. [X(]

There's a small season in Minnesota too. Canada has quite the hunt. If you get into bow hunting moose (like some of my Quebecois relatives), you've got my respect. [X(] Personally, I'd want to put a hundred yards and a full magazine between myself and a bull that I've just shot.

Happy Birthday to the United States Navy! [sm=00000436.gif]

Hear hear! [&o][8D][sm=00000436.gif][sm=Cool-049.gif]

Buy a sailor a drink! Or three! [:D]

I bought a sailor two tickets to an NFL game a couple of weeks ago, does that count? He bought his own drinks...

Bless your heart sir! Neptunus Rex has a special place in his heart for your kind act. [sm=happy0065.gif][sm=happy0065.gif][sm=happy0065.gif][&o][&o][&o]

I have know the young man since he was a cub scout, watched him progress through his Eagle rank and then get into the Navy. He was on the Big E, not sure where his assignment is now, other than somewhere near Seattle. If he doesn't tell me, I don't ask.

It was the least I could do for a great guy and someone putting it all on the line for myself, my family, and my country.

I do like to bow hunt, but hunting something capable of demolishing a 3/4 ton pickup, with a bow, just makes me twitch a bit. I am trying to talk my son into going boar hunting in Texas with our bows. Wanna come?

Schanilec -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (10/14/2015 5:56:53 PM)

I'd love to get a moose tag here maybe even an elk tag.

That takes some skill too! Boar with a bow? You'd have my respect!

Like you with moose, I prefer a bit more kinetic energy on my side. Something like a .338 Lapua mag. On the ground, I wouldn't do anything less against boar.

From the air, however....this is on my bucket list...[8D]

Lecivius -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (10/14/2015 7:17:52 PM)

A .338 for boar? Sure you don't want one of these? [:D]

Seriously though, I could go heli hunting if that's your game, let me know [;)]

Totally unrelated, but I saw this. I wonder who is hunting whom?

On second thought, maybe I'll pass on moose hunting.

I'd do it tomorrow. If only it weren't $1,000. Ugh.[X(]

I've met two guys who each had hunted wild pig with a knife.

AW1Steve -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (10/14/2015 9:58:16 PM)

I had a uncle that would go after black bear with a bow and arrow. He wasn't a complete fool though. He had a 30-30 strapped to his back. [;)]

Saw this, this morning and had to share with a group that appreciates some mathematics in the morning:

"What do you get if you divide the circumference of a pumpkin by its diameter? ---- Pumpkin Pi"

[:D]

nashvillen -> RE: THE THREAD!!! (10/15/2015 2:02:43 PM)

And, while I am down here...
