Midane -> [RESOLVED] Strange bug (video) (4/4/2015 11:48:36 AM)

Platform : Windows 8.1 64

Hello,

So I installed Command through Steam a few days ago and it worked perfectly.

Then I downloaded the Database Add-on from the official page, and extracted it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Command Modern Air Naval Operations\DB as advised on the page, while the game was running (maybe it was not so smart).

It created a new folder "DB_addons" in it.

I stopped the game and launched it again, and a strange bug happened (described below).

I figured that maybe the files should not be in "DB_addons" subfolder, so I copied them in the main DB folder, overwriting any existing file.

Still this strange bug remains.

So I deleted completely the game, installed it again from scratch, and extracted the whole DB_addons.zip in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Command Modern Air Naval Operations\DB without the "DB_addons" folder, overwriting any existing file.

Then I launched the game, and still the same strange but happens.

I wanted to give you a video of the bug but I cannot post a link as a newbie, which is very frustrating.

Basically, the game launches normally, but you cannot play any scenario : after the load of the scenario nothing happens, no units or side is loaded, and you can't even create reference points on the map !

I also reinstalled everything in "PreRequisites" (there is no Directx directory in mine), and still it doesn't solve the problem.

Can you tell me what should I do to resolve this ?

Here is the video of the bug on dropbox : /s/7ych2qb6cyjlugg/Command.mp4?dl=0

(just add Dropbox URL before)

I resolved the problem by uninstalling the game, deleting all the files that were remaining in the folder, and reinstalling it again.

But the problem reappeared again... it seems a bug is preventing the "choose side" window to open, so no scenario can be played.

Did you even try running without the image db the second time.

Yes, it worked at the beginning and then the bug appeared again.

What should I do ?

SO its not related to the image db...I was just trying to get to that point.

OK I found the bug : I use 2 screens, and for an unknown reason sometimes the windows that displays the side for you to choose doesn't appear when the second monitor is plugged.

When I unplugged it the windows appears and I can choose a side.

Strange.

Use the reset positions of secondary windows button under game and options when this happens. Usually the reason is the window was in a position that's not longer there and the reset button just returns everything to the default position.
