I have never really noticed this happening but is it possible to damage/destroy aircraft on ships other than sinking the ship?(made attempt at Search but no luck)

I don’t think so. I’ve had fires of 40+ raging on my CVs and never lost a plane. I’m glad to see that planes are finally being destroyed by air strikes on airfields now in the 2.30 patch. I don’t ever remember destroying a plane on the ground pre-2.30 except by capturing the base or an occasional ship bombardment.

I had seen planes destroyed on 100 ft. sweeps before 2.30 but only occasionally by bombs - you had to drop a lot of bombs to damage/destroy aircraft on the ground. Those raids of 70+ B-17s wiped out a number of aircraft at my bases pre 2.30.:mad: :D

I'm like Sonny and have seen pre 2.3 aircraft losses from bombing/strafing land bases but I don't ever recall any aircraft losses on board ships (other than sinkings).

I would think there could be potential situations for a large loss of aircraft on board ships.

I wonder in ship to ship combat if any float planes are ever damaged or destroyed?

I'm here to tell you one can lose planes at airfields by air bombardment at altitude in pre 2.30...but they have to be big raids. I have a feeling that the losses mount as the morale of stranded air groups go down. In addition, air groups grounded by base damage frequently are damaged in air raids.
