mordachai -> Designs don't show up in new games... (4/29/2015 1:52:43 AM)

Often - I find that a ship just either isn't designed at all, or is goofy in the extreme. When I investigate, it always comes down to the ship design having been set to "manual" in the previous game I was playing (since the game seems to remember this across games). It seems to never fail to screw me up. Either by leaving me with a ton of un-upgraded bases, or idiotic designed ships, or missing designs entirely (my current game as Zenox has no carrier design - not obsolete, not un-buildable - just... no design at all). I started a new game - and forced the technology to level 4 (high enough to get carriers) - and sure enough - I got one - but it was marked "manual" --- the only design to be such (at this time). So... some prior game I obviously had to switch to manual designs for the carrier, and now my new game is messed up (initially) because of that. Please, please, please: _reset_ the manual/automatic ship designs upon starting a new game. What is the possible down-side of that? If I hate the automatic ones, I'll design my own anyway - so zero. If I love the automatic ones, but have to switch to manual sometimes, I'm all set for the next game I start = zero. If I only want automatic, then I continue to get automatic = zero. There are NO down-sides, and plenty of up-sides. So, please, please, please [&o] reset the ship designs to automatic for new games (don't change them for existing games, for obvious reasons). NOTE: This problem also screws up manually designed maps with events & a huge amount of work put into it. The Star Trek NG mod has a whole litany of complaints from new players which boil down to: some designs were left on Manual by the modder - and new players are missing them until they figure that out - and manually design something - and set it to automatic - and wait for the AI to kick in and make the right design. This.. just doesn't need to exist. There is nothing beneficial gained from carrying the manual over to new games. None. So ... please. please. Please!
