SlickWilhelm -> BAB doesn't seem to like 2560x1440p resolution (5/18/2015 10:46:37 PM)

Hi folks,

I got a fancy new 27" monitor this weekend, but BAB doesn't seem to like it.

In the First Manassas standard scenario, the game doesn't load the map. The Scenario briefing screen gets hung and I end up having to kill it via the task manager. Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.

If I reduce resolution to 1900x1200, no problems and the game loads just fine.

I also tried Mill Springs at 2560x1440p, and it draws the map in the lower right hand corner, and when I zoomed out as far as possible, the game froze. As in, a hard lock that required pressing the power button on my PC until it shut off.

If you'd like any other data, just let me know.

Thanks for the detailed report. The cutoff for what works might be 2048 pixels wide. The graphics libraries we're using are based on DirectX, and some video cards won't even allow buffers to be created that are greater than 2048 pixels in any one dimension, so it might be the case that the library doesn't support these either. I'll see whether I can find anything in the documentation about this.

I had exactly same issue. Shame. Willamsburg and Wilson seem to be OK though.

After getting by the initial start up, and playing at lower resolution for a few turns, it works fine now at 2560x1440. FYI
