ORIGINAL: Chris H ... I don't know what they were used for in real live but I suspect scenario designers got it right as night TacB. If so they should arrive as they do now, in night mode. Anyway they are much to fragile for day use. The U2 as a wider series were used a lot for recon and in supplying the partisan war. The bombers were harrassment weapons. A typical tactic was to cut the engine, fly as a glider over a German rear area concentration (all at night), and drop grenades or small bombs. So chance of somebody getting killed was low but the whole camp then spends the rest of the night awake and worried about a partisan attack. This is pretty well modelled in the game as they cause quite a lot of disruptions (which converts to fatigue). They had one huge advantage over German fighters by being so slow. They could fly below the stall speed of German fighters which made it hard to stay in contact and hunt them down, but they were very vulnerable if spotted at a distance as the fighter could just line up its angle of attack. in game, I use them a lot from late 1941 to 1943 on the quieter fronts. They take little supply, and add to the slow attrition of the axis, the Finns are a good target for this as they have such a manpower shortage. I move the production factories every now and then so the pools don't fill up too much.
