Josh -> Firing a German Pak 40 (6/2/2015 2:52:41 PM)

Never seen this before, the guys from "Forgotten Weapons" apparently bought one, restored it, hauled it to a firing range and blammo! it's an iconic weapon so worth watching. Must say I didn't expect such a huge blast...??

Have a look here; Forgotten Weapons

Cool! Interesting Youtube channel. Thanks for sharing, Josh! [8D]

Kuokkanen -> RE: Firing a German Pak 40 (6/2/2015 8:08:59 PM)

It is not as impressive as main guns of battleship...

Saint Ruth -> RE: Firing a German Pak 40 (6/3/2015 10:04:43 AM)

That's some blast.

From playing CMBB / CMAK, I wonder How could it get off more than 1 shot if it revealed its position like that? Everyone on the battlefield would fire at it...

Good point. I was going to say the same thing. No stealth there. [X(]

barkhorn45 -> RE: Firing a German Pak 40 (6/3/2015 6:33:32 PM)

The large blast is due to the fact that a blank cartridge was used.

Crossroads -> RE: Firing a German Pak 40 (6/3/2015 6:44:11 PM)

Awesome, thanks for sharing!

The guys who made the video are saying that it wasn't a blank but a live shell.

ezzler -> RE: Firing a German Pak 40 (6/3/2015 7:13:01 PM)

What difference does a blank make?
Why would that create the additional dust up ?

Must be. There was some discussion about it on the Youtube channel as well. Can't imagine the blast being so large when it was actually used back in WWII, I mean it would give away its position in an instant right?

With a live round most of the propellent is consumed in the barrel

Gilmer -> RE: Firing a German Pak 40 (6/5/2015 4:18:08 PM)

Well, I don't know, but if it made that kind of blast in real life, they wouldn't be able to see if they hit, or be able to pick up another target. Especially if they were in North Africa.

demyansk -> RE: Firing a German Pak 40 (6/6/2015 11:45:51 AM)

I just watched it and I am no expert, but look at where they were firing that gun. Fine sand and not the northern wet soil with pine needles on the ground. If you had a Baja race through that area it would look like the Afrika Korps coming through.
