ORIGINAL: geofflambert I've seen reports that they all fail in time. Every garden hose I ever had failed, but the old style was repairable. However, my property is 200' long and about 50' wide on average. If I want to water everything in the back yard I need 75' minimum. If I want to wash a vehicle in the garage or the alley behind I have to add a 50' hose to a 75' hose. The problem is I'm getting old and rolling up those old fashioned and very heavy hoses and carrying them around makes me consider living in an apartment. These shrink hoses are just great as far as that goes. Get a hose reel, lizard. It helps a lot. Make it a wheeled one and connect the flexi one from your water spigot to the reel for additional maneuverability. +1 And maintain both the cart and the hoses. Buy good quality , keep extra washers on hand , and keep the hose out of the sun in summer , and out of the cold in winter. I've had a good rubber hose go twenty years or more. The cart is the same thing. Get a heavy metal one with pneumatic tires. Keep everything clean and the tires full of air. In the spring time (when you take it out of winter storage) tighten everything up and paint or lube any bare metal. Do this ten minute job , and the cart should last decades , not years. <mine has. And it's easier to crank the hose in then to haul it around. Believe me, no one is lazier than I , but it pays off in the end. [:)]
