von Murrin -> Yay! An ACW game! (3/17/2003 11:04:55 AM)

Just when I thought the American Civil War had been abandoned by all except for absolutely worthless FPS titles, I was pointed here by a thread on the Battlefront forums. Yeah! It's about time!

It's looking good, and I won't be bothered by the real time if it's minute for minute or easy on the compression factor.

Maybe Matrix can talk to them and see if it's something to pick up? ;)

Hey take heart man, it's not my field of interest, but the Civil War is well enough gamed out there eh.

Just gotta wander a few forums and ask where the civil war fans are hiding.

Have ya been to Wargamer?

And my personal fav option to look into is Columbia Games

There games are not computer but is that a major burden?

And while I don't knw them personally, I know Blitz has a lot of Civil War items as well.

If you're first in line to pick it up, I'm right behind you!

It has many of the features that I've been looking for in a C.W. game for a long while!

Thanks, Les. :)

Unfortunately, space and time are huge considerations for me, and will become even more of an issue as time goes by over the next few years. I have some great ACW games, and many other of the pressboard variety. A full ASL set is in there, too. ;)

I haven't been able to so much as lay them out for about 2 years, though.

odog,

I agree. The CM of the ACW?? :D

Hmmm just had a thought, wonder what an ASL module for a Civil War action would look like, someone must have done that scale already by now I would think.

I'm a civil war fan. That looks like it will be a good game. I really enjoy the board game variety myself, but I do like playing on the computer also.

I have a few of the titles from "The Great Campaigns of the American Civil War". Stonewalls Last Battle, Grant Takes Command, and Here Come The Rebels. Two of these titles have been done on the Virtual Advanced Squad Leader program, so you can play online. I also play American Civil War by Victory Games.

I put my maps in Poster Frames so I can hang them when I am not playing, and just record positions so I can resume play at a later date. It can be alot of work, but I do what I have to.

Confederates getting flanked?

Id hardly call this game accurate

There is another American Civil War game coming soon from Walker Boys. The website is www.walkerboystudio.com
If anyone knows of any other recent or upcoming computer games concerning ACW, please post them.

Thanks.

Maybe Matrix can remedy this for us.

nelmsm1 -> (3/19/2003 4:14:50 AM)

HPS also has a fairly new Civil War title with another to be released in another month or so. I am a member of the American Civil War Gaming Club, you might want to check it out as we have a pretty good time there gaming and role playing. We use the HPS title and the old Talonsoft titles. Several members have designed mods using the new HPS engine that really expands the game.

Mad Cow -> (3/21/2003 11:11:17 PM)

you can pick up Civil War Generals II for about $10 at Walmart, its a "dead" game, but still very fun to play...

wzh...I was so desperate for a follow-on ACW game to Sid Meir's Gettysburg...I used the Shogun Total War Map Editior to make a map of Big Round Top, Little Round Top and Devil's Den (Gettysburg). :) It is quite beautiful with the mist and the trees...altough the farm houses have a distinctly Asian influence :)

I have always thought that the Shogun engine could be adapted to the ACW.

Word has it that John Tillrt has a new ACW game coming soon about the fighting in the Transmissippi.
