clearly there is no single best piece in a game where there are highs and low. The 1812 overture is an obvious choice for the soviet in late '41. I have taken to listening to versions of Hurt by the Nine Inch Nails & Johnny Cash while playing WitE Sillyflower you can probably guess why Manstein63

I've collected a number of soundtracks over the years some of which are perfect for my "Ground Pounding" playlist Savings Private Ryan (Williams), Glory (RIP James Horner), Gladiator (Zimmer), Patton, Hart's War to name a few And of course the handful of tracks that came with the video games Steel Panthers and Ardennes Offensive are always in the mix [:)]
