FYI, after doing that you won't be able to scroll the map with the wheel mouse.

As a complete newby I have used my mouse scroll wheel out of habit from other wargames. The zoom in zoom out is annoying. I bookmarked this thread for the video tutorials - not for the mouse wheel!

The problem is that there are not keyboard shortcuts that would change the zoom levels, so it has to be done via the menu, which is really annoying. So I kept the zooming with the wheel mouse, and now I don't change it by mistake anymore.
