Here’s Sea of Fire (Falkland war episode) scenario sad triumph report.
Six Skyhawks in two groups tried to approach British ships from the South on a minimum altitude, using land relief to avoid early detection. Any emissions were also restricted. Speed and course were coordinated manually to reach a mass attack effect instead two separate attacks, that could be beat off easily.
Meantime two Super Etendard were assigned to make a wide loop to the North to wait until Skyhawks approach. Radars and ECM were turned off, and ships were detected via RWR system.
After Skyhawks approached close enough, Super Etendard radars were turned on and pilots were allowed to attack any detected surface target. Two Exocet missiles were launched.
Skyhawks attacked ships from the south at maximum speed. Their ECM were turned on after being detected. Altitude was increased to 1200 ft to drop the bombs.
Exocet and Skyhawks attacks were expected to engage ships simultaneously.
Englishmen launched AA missiles and successfully shot down all the Skyhawks before even one bomb was dropped. The first Skyhawks was classified at 18:20:10, the last one was destroyed at 18:21:21, so HMS Coventry & HMS Broadsward managed to destroy six Skyhawks in 1 minute 11 seconds. They also succeeded to distract one Exocet missile with a chaff at 18:21:53, but the second Exocet impacted HMS Coventry at 18:22:09. Soon the ship sank.
Even though I lost six planes, the score was «triumph».
Special thanks to emsoy, whose recommendations helped me to accomplish this scenario. I've made over 10 attempts to pass it trying several different variations of tactics, but haven't succeeded even once.
