SeaQueen -> RE: Air/Ground Ops sim? (7/13/2015 7:29:45 PM)

My two favorite land wargames are TACOPs and BCT. Both are intended to model present day or near future conventional operations. TACOPs has some interesting features for handling irregular sorts of challenges as well. TACOPS is at best when in multiplayer mode. It handles amphibious operations much better than BCT, which assumes away a lot of things. BCT's scenario generation is difficult and time consuming, however it has details in it that TACOPs assumes away. It's also better in single player mode. BCT uses much more detailed terrain and line of sight calculations. The emphasis in BCT scenarios tends to be on obstacles, line of sight, and breaching operations. TACOPS tends to emphasize firepower. Both games are capable of easily handling scenarios of battlion or regimental scale. TACOPS handles small unit scenarios well too. quote:
I know ground ops are modelled on CMANO, and with--IMO--an impressive level of detail for a sim not intended to represent ground ops as such, but I'd like to hear any recommendations. Thanks in advance!
