bott.2 -> Beta testing? (7/14/2015 5:28:41 PM)

Will there be any beta testing for TOAW 4?

Lobster -> RE: Beta testing? (7/15/2015 4:58:45 PM)

*crickets chirping*

Beta testing for TOAW never stopped. The version numbers increased and the Beta team kept going so, yes there's plenty of
beta testing going on. You may want to send Tamak a follow up email to see what happened to your application. Maybe he's
just very busy right now.

NotOneStepBack -> RE: Beta testing? (9/13/2015 3:40:27 AM)

Is the beta test team open to join? I was on the WITW beta team, would love to be on TOAW

If I were you I'd send an email to Tamas Kiss and volunteer dude. You can find him here:

tamask(AT)slitherine(DOT)co(DOT)uk

Raindem -> RE: Beta testing? (9/19/2015 3:52:36 AM)

I'm in the dark on beta testing also. I submitted my application a couple months ago and never heard back.

larryfulkerson -> RE: Beta testing? (9/19/2015 5:13:56 AM)

Maybe it was granted and you were never informed. I'd query Tamas if I were you Curt dude.
Did you get to the NDA stage even?

Raindem -> RE: Beta testing? (9/20/2015 8:16:05 PM)

What is the NDA stage?

Oh. That answers my question I guess. What happened in my case was I got an email from Eric ( many years ago ) saying
he had attached a file that I was supposed to print out and sign and mail back to him. Now-a-days the NDA is
electronic I've heard. You may be given a link to click on that verifies that you are who your email says you are and
by clicking on the link you are agreeing to the NDA agreement. Or something like that, I've never done it, I donno. I'm just
relating what I've heard. After that there's another email from somebody high up saying yes you're in or sorry dude we used
somebody else. You may want to inquire of Tamas K. and see what your status is Curt dude.

Wannabe -> RE: Beta testing? (9/25/2015 9:41:11 PM)

Is there still a need for beta testers? I tried applying a number of times but it keeps telling me my sign-information is incorrect. Which is kind of weird, since I am signed in right now. Does it have something to do with having a forum name that is different than my uber-identity for use across Matrix, Slitherine and others? I would really like to help.

Of course. Plenty to do between now and then.

I believe you. We need the helpers. It's a win-win.

I sent him an email, too, and haven't heard back. Inspiring.

I also sent him a email and haven't heard back, at least, he could answer that no more beta testers are needed.

USXpat -> RE: Beta testing? (9/29/2015 4:34:41 PM)

And wants no scenarios, either.

governato -> RE: Beta testing? (9/29/2015 5:23:33 PM)

Josant, USXpat, I will vouch for you guys on the secret forum :). At some point, when things get more stable I can also load up your scenario on the new engine and see if something crazy happens. If you PM me we could also suggest engine changes (although I suspect that it would be a) for a future patch and b) limited to simple things like changing game parameters with an event.

USXpat: were you happy with tank losses in your 42-45 scenario?

Lobster -> RE: Beta testing? (9/29/2015 6:03:02 PM)

Do I understand this correctly? They want scenarios for this new TOAW yet they give the scenario designers no way to test the scenario for TOAW4 nor can these scenarios be designed on TOAW4?

This is obviously just my opinion, but I think the development team is just resource/time limited in their ability to keep up with players feedback/requests/suggestions/awesome offers... that's all.

USXpat -> RE: Beta testing? (10/1/2015 3:57:13 PM)

Thank you for offering, Fabio, but I'm taking a pass now on trying to get these ready for TOAW IV's release.

Was pretty happy with TR 42-45 casualty rates, forget what the attrition divider was, probably 8.

Lobster -> RE: Beta testing? (10/1/2015 9:54:41 PM)

Bob had once said that in the 3.5 patch some artillery was going to have to have dedicated towing to be moved. Did this make it through to TOAW4? If so this would be a great change in how the game handles this aspect of unit mobility.

?? I'm sure I never said that about 3.5. I may have said something about such a hypothetical feature, though.

Post 31 at the bottom.

I realize that was almost two years ago and since then 3.5 has gone from a patch to a paid update. So, since you don't remember it I guess we are still stuck with the same old one truck moving an entire division. That really sucks. [:(]

Ok, yes I did say that about IV. But at that time 3.5 was an update and IV was some blue sky project far in the future. Since then 3.5 has morphed into IV. So, now, any previous reference that had been made to IV prior to the 3.5 announcement must be considered a reference to something like a TOAW V - not IV.

BigDuke66 -> RE: Beta testing? (12/4/2015 12:52:22 AM)

After the game of my last beta was released I have now applied for the TOAWIV beta too.
I hope I make it.

hellfish6 -> RE: Beta testing? (12/4/2015 5:12:48 AM)

I signed the NDA a few months ago and never heard back...

Same here. Maybe because I am beta testing Tigers on the Hunt and GG War in the West they think I can't handle one more game. Bah, all I do is sit in front of my computer aLL day.

sPzAbt653 -> RE: Beta testing? (12/4/2015 2:15:21 PM)

Just to clarify, there is no Beta. Instead, scenario designers are invited to submit scenarios for approval and designer admission to the IV Development Forum. See here : http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3898970

rhinobones -> RE: Beta testing? (12/4/2015 5:32:19 PM)

You would think that the Matrix team would at least have the consideration to write back and explain that no beta testers are needed. Maybe even say thank you for offering your time.

Ignoring your e-mail is just plain disrespectful.

Regards, RhinoBones

BigDuke66 -> RE: Beta testing? (12/4/2015 5:56:56 PM)

First, why is there no beta?
In the history of TOAWIII we had open betas that failed to uncover problems, no beta will surely not help at all.

And second why is the application link for the TOAWIV beta big & fat on the matrix frontpage?

Besides that it's obvious that someone has to check all(ALL, not only the new scenarios) the scenarios to make sure they REALLY work in TOAWIV, I remember when TOAWIII was released it had some scenarios that didn't work at all or failed sooner or later because it needed more that just to load it into the editor and save it to make it work for TOAWIII.

r6kunz -> RE: Beta testing? (12/4/2015 6:01:49 PM)

Yeah, it is too bad there was not better communication. But this is not "Matrix", but a couple of dedicated guys that are probably overwhelmed. I sent in my NDA back in July, and as designer of ten scenarios in TOAW3, I was surprise not to hear anything back. So I sent a follow up email, got a respectful apology and my login credentials.

Perhaps you should recheck- Steve, aka sPzAbt653, suggested:

I guess that is there because they need a place to hold that application for those that submit scenarios.
