GBS -> Quick question on air mission escorts.... (7/21/2015 1:32:02 PM)

Did a search of whats new and this forum and couldn't find what I need. i am trying to set up an AEW mission and protect it with two Phantoms. In the mission editor I add the AEW aircraft and then add the two Phantoms. Once added I hindicate the Phantoms but the box allowing me to indicate the fighters are escorts never highlights. I sure I don't understand something. I sure this is trivial to most here but I am just now deciding that I want to learn how to play this game after owning it since release.
Please advise.

I am not sure of official answers, but I always create separate missions for escorting an assets. It gives you a lot more flexibility in how the aircraft are tasked and on mission. Just put reference points for an AAW patrol between the asset and the projected threat.

The "escort" functionality is only available to strike missions. For support missions, you'd need to create an AAW patrol as wood suggested.

Maybe you can also make those reference points be mobile and rotating with the AEW aircraft, so your F-4s can follow it wherever it it goes.

Sorry I didn't mention that...that is what I do and it is almost mandatory.
