If tanks and friendly infantry occupy the same urban hex, do tanks receive some kind of defensive bonus against infantry attack? Or is the reasoning that the additional firepower of friendly infantry will cause a faster readiness drop on the enemy infantry and consequently protect your tanks?

Also, do bonuses for infantry apply in urban hexes only or in any hex with high cover value such as forests?

Currently, the presence of friendly troops does not provide any offset to the penalties AFVs face against enemy infantry in urban terrain. Basically a function of how the code deals with things in Red Storm. We have plans to revise those areas for Southern Storm and I will be able to make those adjustments.

Yes infantry gains bonuses for protection in any built-up area.

Can you specify what are the penalties for AFV's fighting infantry in the urban terrain? Based on my experience with the game, I haven't seen the tanks particularly disadvantaged against the infantry in the cities.
