76mm -> So What's on your Matrix shopping list? (7/22/2015 5:27:43 PM)

I have to say that Matrix has really figured out how to push my buttons... Their upcoming spate of "revamped" older games has added several games to my "to buy" list, including:
--The Campaign Series: Middle East 1948-1985
--TOAW IV
--Steel Tigers
--and maybe Tigers on the Hunt.

I won't really have time to play all of these games, but assuming they are well-done, I'll have to pick up all of them...

Ranger33 -> RE: So What's on your Matrix shopping list? (7/22/2015 5:39:54 PM)

Steel Tigers almost certainly.

TOAW IV depending on how many changes there are. I've only scratched the surface of TOAW III but wouldn't mind upgrading if it makes the game more modern.

GG's WitW if it goes on sale for a good price.

Have my eye on Star Hammer, but reviews seem mixed. Anyone know if it has improved?

Freyr Oakenshield -> RE: So What's on your Matrix shopping list? (7/22/2015 5:42:20 PM)

Too many to list. TOAW 4 and WitW certainly.

Gilmer -> RE: So What's on your Matrix shopping list? (7/22/2015 9:48:56 PM)

I'm looking at that Pike and shot series. I'll be buying Ageod's title on the 30 years war.

Alan Sharif -> RE: So What's on your Matrix shopping list? (7/22/2015 10:13:54 PM)

GG:WitW , SOW:Waterloo and Pike & Shot Campaigns, when funds allow.

Alchenar -> RE: So What's on your Matrix shopping list? (7/22/2015 10:15:34 PM)

Pike and Shot and CMANO the moment they hit appropriate prices.

Will they? [:D]

Ranger33 -> RE: So What's on your Matrix shopping list? (7/22/2015 10:39:01 PM)

CMANO was just on sale for a normal AAA game price, probably the best deal you will get anytime soon. It's worth it! New, significant updates come out regularly plus at least a dozen new scenarios every few weeks.

Freyr Oakenshield -> RE: So What's on your Matrix shopping list? (7/22/2015 10:46:06 PM)

Is CMANO similar to Harpoon?

As a beta tester of Tigers on the Hunt I can highly recommend it.

I've never actually played Harpoon but my understanding is yes, it's a much improved iteration of that genre. It has pretty much everything you could think of when it comes to air and naval combat from WW2 to the near future, plus a little ground combat stuff.

Oh, really? How little?

I used to play Harpoon a long time ago. I liked it. But as far as I can remember, there was no ground combat there.

Zap -> RE: So What's on your Matrix shopping list? (7/23/2015 1:09:56 AM)

GG War in West, GG War in east, Pike and Shot,SOW Gettysburg, Sow Waterloo, Brother against brother, Flashpoint Campaigns:Red Storm

Very little, I think it's just that there are ground units, but their activities are mostly abstracted. I believe there was discussion about the possibility expanding on this a lot at some point.

Just to clarify, it really covers from POST-WW2 to near future; while it has some WWII stuff (mainly US), it is missing a lot.

But I agree that it is a great game with an impressively wide scope.

My steam backlog is technically in double digits, I can wait as long as it takes for them to reach the price I've decided I'll pay for them even if that turns out to be never.

Volunteer -> RE: So What's on your Matrix shopping list? (7/23/2015 9:53:27 AM)

SoW:GB anniversary edition.

I hope it is offered at a discount. It would be good to see it available through Steam, also.

berto -> RE: So What's on your Matrix shopping list? (7/23/2015 11:51:02 AM)

On my shopping list?

  • TOAW IV -- for sure
  • Pike & Shot: Campaigns -- ditto
  • AGEOD's Thirty Years War; Napoleon -- likely

    As for

  • Campaign Series: Middle East

I get it for free. [;)]

  • Ostwindflak -> RE: So What's on your Matrix shopping list? (7/23/2015 12:53:55 PM)

AGEOD's new Napoleon game when that gets released,

Ranger33 -> RE: So What's on your Matrix shopping list? (7/23/2015 1:12:48 PM)

AGEOD is making a Napoleon game too? Guys, my wallet can only take so much abuse.

Eambar -> RE: So What's on your Matrix shopping list? (7/23/2015 1:21:34 PM)

Next on my list will be To End All Wars, as I don't have a WW1 game in my portfolio and this looks good.

Others I would like to pick up include Civil War II (I have Forge of Freedom but just couldn't get into it) and Revolution Under Siege Gold (I'm sure it will be on a Steam sale at some point).

    Cheers,

wodin -> RE: So What's on your Matrix shopping list? (7/23/2015 2:36:10 PM)

Steal Tigers, DC3 (Which is sounding amazing) and maybe TOAWIV.

Doggie I'd go for WW1Gold every time over any other WW1 game..followed by Strategic Command The Great War.

Ranger33 -> RE: So What's on your Matrix shopping list? (7/23/2015 3:34:26 PM)

There is also Commander: The Great War if you want a simpler entry point for WW1. It's fun and plays relatively fast, but obviously does not offer the same sort of depth as the other choices mentioned. Strategic Command WW1 is a nice step up from Commander and an excellent game (Plus you get a fun 1870 Franco-Prussian War scenario). Then WW1 Gold and To End All Wars, which I have not played, as I get dizzy just looking at the screenshots [:D]

Gilmer -> RE: So What's on your Matrix shopping list? (7/23/2015 4:21:33 PM)

Ww1 Gold ran badly on my computer and was very hard to get into. To End All Wars is a great game, if you like the Ageod "Athena" engine, which I do like.

I was doing a Let's Play of it on youtube under the name Gilmer 9999 but then I started getting CTDs. I think the CTDs were my fault, because I alt-tabbed out of the game for a really long time as I was uploading the videos. To the point where the game stopped responding.

budd -> RE: So What's on your Matrix shopping list? (7/23/2015 5:33:47 PM)

    Definitely sooner or later.
The Campaign Series: Middle East 1948-1985
    Steel Tigers
    FCSS
    DC3
    COMBINED ARMS[:D]

    And the upgrade for PCO

Taking a wait and see attitude
WITW....i jumped on WITE on the last sale when it hit steam, price dependent.
Tigers on the hunt... probably wait for player feedback and AAR's
TOAW 4 ... i have TOAW3 so i'll wait to see how much of an upgrade it is and price point.

Wodin, what is this DC3 of which you speak? I don't see anything about it on the website.

I should have known better than to post this thread, I already see a couple more games I'd like to pick up...

Freyr Oakenshield -> RE: So What's on your Matrix shopping list? (7/23/2015 9:13:15 PM)

I also wanted to buy SSG's Kharkov: Disaster on the Donets + Across the Dnepr: Second Edition to make my collection of SSG titles complete, but I don't know... The forums are dead... I wonder if anybody still plays these games... [&:]

    If I may chime in:
Barbarossa 1941 with role playing elements.

I have been a big fan of CTGW for quite awhile now, but I think it's time to move on. Did check out Strategic Command WW1 today, unfortunately the YouTube video I watched did not have a narrator explaining what was happening, just a lot of movement, however I could appreciate different aspects of the game. My main concern right now: Is to know if a game or any game is being fully supported? Plus, Does it have an active MP community?
