Morris retired as a Master Sergeant in 1957. He continued to work until retiring in 1981. His final accomplishment in his life was his writing of his personal experiences in his book, A Soldier's Journal of Bataan and Survival. In his book he chronicles his experiences as a soldier and his love of country. In the end he defines what motivates men to survive in the harshest and most difficult times. When all hope seems lost it is the sheer will to overcome all odds and keeping the will to live motivated by the trust, sacrifice and caring of those around you that made the difference. It is from this belief that he made a personal difference fo all in his family and those that knew him.
