Feltan -> A run to the used book store (7/31/2015 2:20:22 AM)

I did my (just about) semi-annual run to the used book store today. Handed over a ton of pulp fiction, and did some browsing.

I picked up, as usual, a lot of Pacific War books.

One of them looks really interesting.

The book is called "A Soldier's Journal of Bataan and Survival" by Morris F. Lewis. It has a copyright notification, but appears to be self-published. This copy appears to signed by the author's wife (widow?).

Has anyone run across this one before?

Regards,
Feltan

No, but google has:

quote:

Morris retired as a Master Sergeant in 1957. He continued to work until retiring in 1981. His final accomplishment in his life was his writing of his personal experiences in his book, A Soldier's Journal of Bataan and Survival. In his book he chronicles his experiences as a soldier and his love of country. In the end he defines what motivates men to survive in the harshest and most difficult times. When all hope seems lost it is the sheer will to overcome all odds and keeping the will to live motivated by the trust, sacrifice and caring of those around you that made the difference. It is from this belief that he made a personal difference fo all in his family and those that knew him.

Lokasenna,

I found that reference as well. At least I know the book is real and not some fraud.

Interesting, the post has about 145 hits as of now. If this crowd doesn't recognize the book, I think it is fair to say that it is indeed a rare find.

Feltan
