Tim41 -> Byc. making helcopter noise? (8/10/2015 10:58:58 PM)

Hi Jason. Hot sure if you saw this in the last thread.
Playing WF; SS Corps-Dyn. Cam. Road to Germans (SS PZ Kps.), assigned Army level 5th Bicycle Batt., 3rd Company (all units of this nature). making a helicopter noise. I know we put the patch in correctly together but if it worked, should that noise still be happening? Maybe I did something wrong?

Tim41 -> RE: Byc. making helcopter noise? (8/12/2015 5:17:33 PM)

Howdy Jason;
I did not receive a response? I'm wondering if the helicopter noises on the bikes means that the patch 2.02 did not take?

When you click on 'about' up top in the menu bar in the game, it should tell you the version number. Will check on the sound issue for you.

Ok, there is still a wav file in there, it's probably defaulting to the wave. Go into windows explorer, in your WF game, look for 11movement0.wav, delete it, should solve the problem. The ogg file is the bicycle sound, I think if a wav resides of the same number, it defaults to the wav first.

Let me know if it worked, ok?

Dear Jason & Mike:
You've gone to so much trouble to help. I will of course try this (if my small brain can handle it) for you. I'll have an answer this weekend or tonight-and will faithfully report all and try all suggested. I owe you HOURS of help for the time you have spent with me.
Happy to report all fixes until I switch back once again to Talonsoft...(for East Front.)
I recently reread the posts from 9 years ago. Amazingly...I bought the game again (though at the time, I appeared very frustrated that I bought a game that was not thoroughly tested!) I thanked you and gave up and went back to EF Gold II-which worked until XP broke. I don't know why people say it didn't work-I loaded Talonsoft's version in 4 XP's and the old, OLD version in 98. I never had a crash once in all those years-until I installed the new game on the same computer as the old one was on. That was a $575 trip out from my computer guy. If a few OOB's were not correct-the game at least functioned and the playability factor outweighs most things in war gaming. We sometimes sacrifice accuracy for playability (something I'm trying to impart to HPS about Wolfpack).
I bought this version but could only get 1.03 working until your help (and it was failing). That's rather complicated for the average gamer to go through, no? Eight or nine years later...I don't think a guy needs to buy this boxed edition (extra expense) off Matrix and have to go through all these problems again (I bought the downloaded version before-2008). It took a year for me to get 2.02 installed and let's face it-I would have never figured out those changes in a million years without your help.
There's been a lot of water under the bridge, and you have obviously not had as much support as you need. I am frustrated that I bought the game once again...and the EF Dynamic Campaign for Corps level is not working this time at all. 95-98% of what I play is EF, Corps level. Jason...it's 95% (at least) of why I play the game and EF was the first in the series in what, 1990? WF and RS are just not what I game. I'm gaming them because I love this game as much as you (well-maybe not as much as you!), and my hope is the EF fix will be quick. I need to know how long this is going to take-approximately. The last update was 8/2014. If it's going to be a while for EF Dynamic Campaign at Corps level, I am just going to half to shelve this once again. It also means buying another XP. So it's kinda of an important question...the Doctors have control of my wallet these days-instead of old girlfriends (I think the doctors are even more high maintenance). Depending on the time frame for EF's fix, I'm happy to keep playing the game and find as many things as I can report. I'll only use Talonsoft for other than 'EF' (WF and RS will be played on Windows 7 with the new version of the game...unless there are again, too many fixes.)
I'm sorry, you have to remember I'm sick. Time is kinda precious when there might not be a lot of it (Hell, the meds don't even help-why I'm writing you at 4:01AM)
Look-if there is anything I can do as far as game testing, research-anything that might aide you in the least-happy to do it. Just because I play the Talonsoft's EF...I'm sure you will eventually have a game here that is far superior. I'll keep reporting what I find on the new version for WF and RS, but please give me some kinda of time frame for EF fix.
You guys are fantastic for the years of effort. Amazing Jason, but as you said about my corps level fixation, "I like my toys"...(And they should speak Russian)...
Just wish we could get the EF Corps level Dyn. Campaigns going....I'd live through a hundred fixes with you if you need the help. I just think before Mid East...or anything else, this game should work 100%. I'm more than likely buying XP anyway because I have a thousands of dollars in perfectly good games sitting on a shelf...
Again, I'll advise about the file removal on the MC sounds on the bike.

Jason Petho -> RE: Byc. making helcopter noise? (8/13/2015 3:50:10 PM)

Wait until Middle East is released and post issues have been addressed and I'll put together a private patch for you that corrects the corps level Oob

Otherwise, I'm sure you have read the next major Campaign Series UPDATE is due out at the end of 2016.

Jason Petho -> RE: Byc. making helcopter noise? (8/13/2015 4:13:06 PM)

Nevermind, mail sent.

Tim41 -> RE: Byc. making helcopter noise? (8/13/2015 7:30:28 PM)

That is very considerate and no, I did not know of the next major change date. I know you are busy with other projects. I have not tried the Byc thing yet or unzipped the OOB yet. I've had a tough time last night-not feeling well. I will do both latter today.

Tim41 -> RE: Byc. making helcopter noise? (8/14/2015 3:39:31 AM)

I have removed 11movement.wav-...now I have to find the Bicycle companies I dismounted and put in trucks. Let you know. 11Movement.wav was the only wave file I think I saw? Had a music note on it. Almost like I knew what I was doing.

Tim41 -> RE: Byc. making helcopter noise? (8/14/2015 8:12:37 AM)

Got a unit back to the bikes-working. THANK YOU YET AGAIN! I would never have known how to do that. There look to be hundreds of files...massive. I was terrified just looking for the file.

I think the sound levels may just be Matrix records at a higher level or something. I have to turn up the flight sims (Wings Over Viet Nam and Europe) and turn down this, Napoleonic Wars & Civil War. The Tiller Naval Series is also at a lower decibel (HPS). Now that I'm use to it, it adds punch-weight to the blows. I do think there is some difference though in the Rising Sun volumes between artillery and other weapons as noted. I would listen to that for sure. Again-maybe it's me-meds-what? I see flamethrower units actually make a FT sound. Weapons and OOB's are much, much better. It's superior to the old game and I'm praying the file you sent works for EF. Engineering capabilities like mine laying, etc.: great. Awesome. Some of these were available when I kinda had 1.03 working for a while.
Other than the bikes, so far everything in WF & RS seem to be working great at corps level. I've played three corps level games and from both sides. The A/I does seem to slow down considerably in the last turns. If this is the game or possibly an infection slowing the game... I do not know. I've run scans-nothing, but it could be very deep. One recent infection actually kept me from closing games. My guy had to come out for that.
