Ok, I added that to my drive of tips. I remember reading it a ways back. So, perhaps the crew was more to blame, but Orita let the ship get hit with a torpedo in the first place. Actually, I don't know how I missed changing him a lot earlier than this.

I have been sneaking some merchants up and down the coast past Tavoy, and I wonder if these bombers are set to attack shipping?

Yesterday I moved a destroyer squadron into position, and today I may move them within shouting distance to see if I can entice a strike.

I would bomb the runway, but there is a lot of AA present.

It seems likely that tomorrow will see some good fireworks somewhere, and the possibility of a bigger clash on the following day even greater.

With great sadness I withdrew the Endo Detachment, saving the pilot Endo who was spectacular night fighter irl. So that leaves me with 9 planes in one squadron. I guess I will split it apart so as to cover three bases: Rangoon, Magwe and one other? Medan maybe? Bangkok?

I am starting to distribute the 20mm machine cannon AA...units I like very much indeed, even if most JFB's think they are utter trash. I don't. I think there is an application for every Japanese unit in the game. These make for good rear area defense against paratroops, soaks on islands, and soaks for units moving in the open, and port defense against dive bombers.

The Frances are starting to roll off the production line, but it will be 2 weeks or so before any squadron can fly them.

I only have 1.3 squadrons left to upgrade to the Frank A. The last full size squadron is in the North Pacific and I am flying them back. I won't use Franks on islands. I could have saved them for Alaska, but I think I may abandon Alaska shortly.

Our narrow focused naval search spots a large convoy just off map, a little east of the expected ambush zone...and bad weather and distance scrub some squadrons!

Normally, you are pessimistic. I don't think either are down and out...but I missed the mine hit, type 93s are dinky little things.

It depends on what the damage messages were. If you saw "Listing, counter flooding" on both of those hits, I'd say she's a goner or going to be. If you saw that one time, and another time saw any kind of explosion or "Critical Damage" or "Severe Damage", she'd also be in real trouble.

What about planes destroyed on the ground for the day? Any Seagulls? They do have places to land so if you don't see any that doesn't mean you didn't sink the ship.

The training level for the IJA is 55 experience.

When a unit respawns...i.e. reforms at Tokyo; it starts with 40 experience and 40 morale.

Now, according to the manual a unit may train and gain experience once prep reaches 100 points.

What else can you do to speed up the training process?

Leaders? Both the unit leader and HQ's in the area?

Mode: Does rest speed it up?

Disruption/Fatigue/Morale: does this have any impact?

I often set units at rear bases in rest mode. I haven't done a scientific study, but I think rest mode might have a small benefit in training.

I had 1st Marine Div. broken into three RCT, each set to train once they reached 100% prepped. It looked like the unit with the best commander (inspiration and/or administration) increased noticeably faster. I didn't test between insp. and admin.

So, based upon my experience, without any real testing, I'd work from the hypothesis that training in rest mode with good commanders offers slightly better results.

KB shows up, the target was evacuated...you can see the task force fleeing to the south. They cottoned onto something...so a very disappointing day. Sank two or three teeny ships.

I think overall I got too complicated here....with naval strike as the first target, and then port strike as a second objective. I have never gotten this to work in the past, and I didn't today either as not a single Judy flew. The port had been empited so I guess I can't fault the local commanders.

Anything that decreases prep time to 100% decreases training time. Rest mode does this.

Thanks. I figured local leaders probably have the biggest impact once prep gets to 100%. Interesting that Rest might slow down prep getting to 100% as fast as in combat mode.

I simply do not have any PP for anything other than releasing troops and only every now and then can afford to change leaders under dire circumstances only.

I am so in a world of hurt in this game...but I love it![;)]

When in rest mode there is a chance to gain 2 points instead of 1 point.

Oh, so you are saying rest mode improves prep time. I thought it was impacted by experience or leaders or even HQs or possibly proximity to the target.

I do know when you swap Prep targets experience seems to play a big role in converting some of the existing prep levels to the new prep target.

I run some tests and did not see any difference in prep between Combat and Rest. Bonus +1 prep happens with ~20% probability in both

Japan loses an 8000 unit tanker, which somehow blundered out on her own! Subs make quick work of her.

The KB gets away...
