For several months in 1992 I was a UXO guy assigned to escort a mapping guy in the wetlands around Fort Meade, MD. The place was absolutely full of 3.5" rockets and 4" Stokes mortars filled with mustard gas. The mapping guy ? COL George Philip III (USMC ret), the son of the CO in this story.
