Hmm...Itīs becoming difficult. A target aiming for a head?

Crossroads -> RE: Wishlist (3/25/2016 7:51:10 PM)

"OP FIRE" fits into the icon and tells what it is all about. So I am not unhappy about it as such. Just curious if someone would come up with a good icon for it [:)]

Jafele -> RE: Wishlist (3/26/2016 12:40:36 PM)

Berto, this is a good picture showing several units selected (in the middle of the map) taken from the Tillerīs game "The french and indian wars". This is the famous "shiny" color I refered. As you can see the zoom is so far from the surface, but the units can be seen clearly and the colour covers the full counter.

Hope this helps.

berto -> RE: Wishlist (3/26/2016 1:00:44 PM)

Those look like white highlight color, nothing fancy there. CSME has white as one of 16 possible highlight colors. Maybe the issue is that, in general, CSME maps are lighter colored. The map you display in the screenshot is darkish, so the white highlight just stands out better.

Jafele -> RE: Wishlist (3/26/2016 1:23:38 PM)

Very true, but donīt forget the "colour" covers the full counter. That also means a lot.

berto -> RE: Wishlist (3/26/2016 1:26:05 PM)

In CSME (and our earlier JTCS 2.02), the counter highlight encompasses the entire counter.

I think the issue might be that in the JT game the highlight is one pixel thicker all around.

Jafele -> RE: Wishlist (3/26/2016 1:33:47 PM)

More images, this time from Advanced Tactics. In the first screenshot we see the hexes controlled by the german army thanks to a yellow border that covers the hexes.

Jafele -> RE: Wishlist (3/26/2016 1:35:53 PM)

In the second, the same area with the "See supply" button enabled. IMO this would be one the most important improvements to the Campaign series.

Ok. Anyway I see very, very clear the highlighted units in this Tiller game.

Jafele -> RE: Wishlist (3/27/2016 7:53:15 PM)

Would be great a sign (or a text) in the infobox when an unit is assaulting. Itīs pretty useful if youīre going to assault with several units. Sometimes itīs hard to remember wich unit participate in the action (my bad memory [:D]), specially when the attacks come from different hexes.

Jafele -> RE: Wishlist (3/29/2016 10:16:47 AM)

Guess the game could be more intuitive with a click sound every time you select an unit or press a hotkey. At least as an option.

Hexagon -> RE: Wishlist (3/31/2016 12:34:39 PM)

A pair of ideas to help know "whats your unit"

1- in HQs add a letter to know if is an infantry, tank, mech infantry, arty.... battalion, brigade or division, now you only know what is the size of HQ unit but not the type.

2- you post a Tiller image from Early America serie... well, i dont know if is possible do like in Tiller games and add a formation coulour in the counter... with the game scale i think in battalion in small-medium scens and in bigger scens brigade or division.

For me one of the biggest problems in serie is that you cant know easy what is the formation on certain unit without use Z hotkey... even more, you lack the right buttom option to see in unit panel the OOB structure for that unit.

Jafele -> RE: Wishlist (3/31/2016 1:48:16 PM)

A picture taken from Tillerīs PzC Kharkovī43 with the divisional markings enabled on the counters (different colours). There are also four units selected with the "highlight organization" button.

Agree. Itīs not very intuitive in my opinion and sometimes even a bit dizzy. [:(]

Jason Petho -> RE: Wishlist (3/31/2016 3:41:56 PM)

These are great ideas, guys!

Keep them coming!

Thank you!

Jafele -> RE: Wishlist (3/31/2016 3:54:12 PM)

Youīre welcome Jason! [:)]

You know guys I always try to be sincere and my intention is to give ideas (doing my best) to improve this excellent game. Fanboys (idolaters) are different beasts, these arse-lickers firmly believe everything they like is totally perfect. [:D]

berto -> RE: Wishlist (3/31/2016 7:32:26 PM)

@Jafele et al: As Jason says, great ideas.

We have a complicated sequence of to-dos, multiple games to support, technical challenges, evolving marketing plans, etc., etc. Without going into detail (except for glimpses that we might reveal from time to time in Coder/Developer Diaries and other forum threads), we pick and choose and schedule improvements and wish list fulfillments on what, to outsiders, might seem to be a mysterious and even random process. There is method to our madness. If we don't act on wish list requests right away, it doesn't mean we have rejected them, or that you won't see them eventually. And if some things we never act on, it's usually with good reason. We hear ya, but we also ask for your patience. Rome Wasn't Built in a Day. Corollary: Rome is not Athens. [;)]

Jafele -> RE: Wishlist (3/31/2016 8:05:43 PM)

I know it Berto [;)]. Youīre a small team with a lot of work to do. Fortunately the campaign series is a very long term project, so thereīs no hurry. There are plenty of good ideas in this thread that youīll have on hand if you need them. Some may fit, others not. Thatīs all we (the outsiders) can do to help to the project. This is your game and I like it.

Hexagon -> RE: Wishlist (4/2/2016 11:25:19 AM)

I refer to something like this... when you do in Tiller right click in unit "portrait" you can see the OOB structure and if you select the unit in diferent colour the units that are from that formations.

The point in have unit colours in counters is that this help a lot to know whats the distribution of your units in the map without need click+Z key, even in a small scen you need click a lot to know how are your formations in the map.

berto -> RE: Wishlist (4/2/2016 12:45:37 PM)

In CSME, for a selected unit, you can hit the F2 key to view its Unit Handbook entry, and its place in the OOB.

Admittedly, it's not the ideal presentation, it's something that can be improved. We have plans to do that. Not near term, but long term.

Hexagon -> RE: Wishlist (4/2/2016 7:19:31 PM)

Well, show "easier" OOB for a certain unit is good but not critical... i see more important add formation colours to the counters because without a click you have a "clear" idea of who is who in your forces and add a letter in the HQ units to know if is an arty, infantry, tank etc etc reduce clicks.

Any way not allways is possible have this or have it in time [:)]

Thanks for the reply and your time.

jack54 -> RE: Wishlist (4/4/2016 12:40:14 AM)

I believe these have all been mentioned but in case you are keeping a 'check list' for 'times a feature is requested'.
My humble requests are:

1- view 3 is useless for me, these 50+ year old eyes need better zooms. Perhaps make (1 and 2 closer and 3 the same as the current 2 view) or (3 a closer 2D counter view). Please!

2- allow the unit viewer to work on 'identified' enemy units even with FOW on.

3 -After battle map review.

4- random turn limit for scenarios

Thanks Again for listening. [:)]

Edit: I see Jason mentioned that view 3 is good for artillery tracking...oh well I still haven't used it though.

Jafele -> RE: Wishlist (4/9/2016 6:27:22 PM)

A surrender button to stop a battle that is clearly lost (like in Combat Mission). In some circumstances a player could prefer to surrender his army before being totally destroyed during so many boring turns.

Jason Petho -> RE: Wishlist (4/9/2016 7:10:47 PM)

For standard scenarios or campaigns?

Jason Petho

Jafele -> RE: Wishlist (4/9/2016 7:23:32 PM)

Mainly for standard scenarios against human players (hotseat or pbem). For standard scenarios against the computer is not very neccesary, you just need to exit the battle. Yeah, perhaps in campaigns could be useful.

Jafele -> RE: Wishlist (5/8/2016 1:51:44 PM)

An option to cancel "Double time". I like to see the hexes where units are able to reach (hotkey H). However, once you press "double time" the unit is fatigued, even if it doesnīt move.
