Hikaru -> Newbie Alert! (3/23/2003 6:00:28 AM)

Hey, guys-

Just wanted to post to say hi and introduce myself. I ordered UV on Wednesday, and have been going crazy waiting for it to get here. I'm looking forward to getting to know the game and you guys, and getting absolutely trounced in my PBEM games. Yeah... I think that's it. :)

Impatiently,
D

Welcome! Always happy to have a new player for target pra.....uh, PBEM games. :D

I would advise reading the FAQ sticky to get answers to some difficult questions and pratice aganist the AI a few times.

Be sure to download the patches before you do anything else. Otherwise you will learn all the old ways of doing things. V2.30 is a whole different ballgame from 1.00.:)

Or even 2.2 for that matter.

Significantly so that it should read more like 3.0

Welcome. Even getting hammered in this game is fun - well it when I was still green.

Best tip I've got - when playing human opponents, keep a pen and paper handy to track what is planned, or the state of his damaged capitol ships. Saves a lot of nasty surprises later on.

Hey, had to wait till Monday (stupid UPS, taking weekends off and inconviencing me :) ), but it's HERE! Soon as I get off work, I'm gonna load it up and play through the tutorials and such. Thanks for the advice and welcome, and I hope to be more active soon!
