DeSade -> [ADJUSTMENTS MADE v1.11] minor visual UI bugs on high dpi display (10/11/2015 10:41:11 AM)

I'm not sure if it wasn't reported before, but on my 13" Asus full HD display (Windows 10):

DeSade -> RE: minor visual UI bugs on high dpi display (10/11/2015 10:43:21 AM)

also, it would be great if CMANO used native dpi scaling on such displays - it gives much more crisp fonts, notice difference between game fonts and system font used in window title

Same problem here

ComDev -> RE: minor visual UI bugs on high dpi display (10/11/2015 11:01:03 AM)

Thanks, will look into for Command 1.10. Are there any other similar issues that I should also look at?

ExMachina -> RE: minor visual UI bugs on high dpi display (10/11/2015 1:13:26 PM)

Had the same problem.

The fix that worked for me was to select disable "display scaling on high DPI settings" (right click on CMNAO exe>Properties>Compatibility)

Works for all, non-high DPI optimized software

I tried it, fonts are very crisp but there are even more severe visual side effects, as per screen below:

Is your font set to >100% under the display settings? That also messes with some programs.

yup, 150%, but its system default for such dpi, otherwise everything is unreadable (too small)

ExMachina -> RE: minor visual UI bugs on high dpi display (10/11/2015 9:49:17 PM)

FWIW, I have text set to 125% and I have no appreciable display problems in CMNAO.

I had some text issues that I had been living with since upgrading to Win10 and never really bothered with it before. Saw this recommendation and I realized what it was...mine is perfect now. Thanks for the tip.

thewood1 -> RE: minor visual UI bugs on high dpi display (10/12/2015 12:57:42 AM)

Not sure why, but since making the DPI setting change, my UI is a lot faster in responses. Also, the issues I was having with the map being black every now and then has gone away. Not a placebo effect. I have tested it several times.

wild_Willie2 -> RE: minor visual UI bugs on high dpi display (10/12/2015 4:29:18 AM)

I have to agree with thewood1, changing the DPI settings makes the game run a lot smoother..

stilesw -> RE: minor visual UI bugs on high dpi display (10/12/2015 2:39:56 PM)

I had not been having any display issues but tried disabling the scaling on high DPI settings. I also noticed an improved performance. Interesting tip.

I'll throw in a 'Me Too' on UI bugs on a 2013 Macbook Pro running Win7 in a virtual environment. Native resolution is 2880x1800.

I have screenshots to share, but matrix won't let me post links to them without more post history.

FoxZz -> RE: minor visual UI bugs on high dpi display (10/26/2015 8:51:20 PM)

I've got the same problem on my 14" full HD, it runs in the good definition when in the menu, and as soon I get in a scenario, the definition become much worse and the display all melty.

tango4 -> RE: minor visual UI bugs on high dpi display (2/7/2016 1:33:58 PM)

Same problem here, on a new 17 inches laptop with a 4K resolution screen.
The only satisfactory solution that works for me at the moment is to force my screen resolution to 1080p, put windows scaling back to 100%, then sign out of windows and sign in again, and only then start CMANO.
It would be fantastic if the game could be made DPI aware so that it scales nicely. I guess CMANO in 4K would look gorgeous !

Nevertheless, thanks a lot to the whole dev team for all your continued efforts on this awesome (and unique) sim.

Dysta -> RE: minor visual UI bugs on high dpi display (2/8/2016 8:24:47 AM)

I think that is because the game rendering the BMP texture, and higher resolution means more rendering of it. Not to forget the smooth lines along the coast, target indicator and such, they are vector-base rendered, and that kills performance too.

tango4 -> RE: minor visual UI bugs on high dpi display (2/8/2016 12:36:39 PM)

Well, that makes perfect sense.
Perhaps a solution would be to have all the menus and interface in 4K, and render everything in the map in 1080p.
That would avoid having to change the desktop resolution, and get really crisp menus.

But please bear with me, I have no experience in development, so perhaps this is not technically possible, or just too difficult, I have no idea.
This type of compromise could make sense from a user point of view, but perhaps less from a developer's one.

ComDev -> RE: minor visual UI bugs on high dpi display (2/13/2016 9:46:33 AM)

A number of adjustments have been made v1.11. Thanks guys [8D]

tango4 -> RE: minor visual UI bugs on high dpi display (2/13/2016 8:35:01 PM)

Thanks a lot !

Only if I set Windows scaling to 100/125% the interface layout is correct and not completely exploded, but then all text and icons are simply too small to be readable. Also it seems that the problem got worse after I updated to v1.11. Any suggestions?

If you haven't tried that yet, lower the screen res to 1080p or below. For me 1920x1080 100% scaling is a bit too small, so I switch to 1600x900.

mikmykWS -> RE: minor visual UI bugs on high dpi display (10/9/2016 7:10:01 PM)

Very sorry you're disappointed. We are now working on fixing the issue and hope to have it rectified soon. Please let us know how things are next update.

For now make sure you're running at 100% DPI.

Thanks!

Mike

offenseman -> RE: minor visual UI bugs on high dpi display (10/29/2016 3:00:32 PM)

Upon game start I get the minor UI problems as previously noted

offenseman -> RE: minor visual UI bugs on high dpi display (10/29/2016 3:02:48 PM)

However when I try to do anything like click on a unit, in this case group composition of this TF, the graphic problem becomes worse. Not sure if this is the same issue as in this thread or not. While a fix is in the works for this, is it possible to go back to the previous version which did not have this problem?

mikmykWS -> RE: minor visual UI bugs on high dpi display (10/29/2016 3:20:12 PM)

What DPI are you running at?

We have another update coming very soon that should address this completely.

Mike

offenseman -> RE: minor visual UI bugs on high dpi display (10/29/2016 3:56:33 PM)

I am not too smart about that sort of thing but it appears I am at 120dpi, my settings are at 125%- default Win10. I just tried it at 100% but do not know what the DPI is at that setting and the result was the same except my older eyes had issues seeing anything at all. [:D]

FWIW this is a great game and I am sure you will fix it soon. [8D]

mikmykWS -> RE: minor visual UI bugs on high dpi display (10/30/2016 12:33:08 AM)

Yeah you can adjusted it with that scroll bar.

So right click on your desktop, select display settings and the bar in the middle sets your DPI (100%, 125%) etc. If you can set it to 100 and relaunch command you should be ok.

offenseman -> RE: minor visual UI bugs on high dpi display (10/31/2016 8:46:51 PM)

I tied it as 100% and it made no difference. I'll wait for the update that fixes it. Thanks for trying.

Dimitris -> RE: minor visual UI bugs on high dpi display (11/4/2016 10:06:30 AM)

Thank you for your feedback.

If it helps, our tests have shown that a combination of 1920x1080 resolution and 100-125% DPI scaling offers a good experience even on very high resolution monitors and TVs. (After applying these settings, it is necessary to delete the Command.ini file, log off, log back in and start Command again). We apologize if this is unsuitable to your workflow.

Thanks again.

offenseman -> RE: minor visual UI bugs on high dpi display (11/6/2016 2:53:51 AM)

Works on mine. 125% win10 1920x1080. Thanks you!!
