jacozilla -> Sort by your empire priority button? (10/16/2015 3:51:04 AM)

Is this a leftover / vestigial function on the Expansion Planner screen?

Similar to how on the ship design screen there is a column labeled optimized, but I read in post somewhere that is a legacy and no longer used, some vestigial part of far earlier DW game mechanics before it became no longer needed/used/supported.

Does anyone know what this button is supposed to do?

I thought that it would auto-sort the resources shown by order of which resource my empire needs most at the time, but however I sort my resources window, when I click the 'Sort by your Empire Priority' button, all I hear is a beep and nothing happens. The resources window stays in same sorted order and by column type I had selected.

Is this button legacy, broken, something else?

Sounds like you've run into a bug. The empire priority filter works for me, though I don't particularly care to use it as the computer removes things it thinks my empire doesn't need from the list and I don't always agree with the computer on the priorities.

This is more or less what the filter option does.

It isn't broken...it just isn't overly useful.
It sorts by immediate need, unfullfilled and possibly in transit. So like if you put a bunch of build orders in you might see materials.
If you get a new colony with a race you didn't have previously you'll likely see specific luxuries.
Fuel will also frequently pop on and off the list.
If you're like me and you build lots of mines you'll likely get an empty list a lot of the time.

Why I say it isn't overly useful is it really isn't useful for any kind of strategic planning. It just takes into account shortfalls that are of an immediate nature and might not even be real shortfalls (freighters shipping or production hasn't ramped up).
