There are so many variables as to what can make a PBEM game go bad early: die rolls, mismatch of player capabilities, experience, and tactics. But typically a PBEM game either sees Japan overrun China, Burma, India, the DEI & PI, the Eastern Pacific, and land in Australia by April 1942... OR - loose the KB in a heartbeat (show's over very early).... that is why MOST games never see 1943. The broadest reason most of this happens is that the Allies (in China, Malaya, & the DEI) start pre-defeated (generally very weak). This was originally done so the AI could make the historical time table of conquest in the first 6 months. That works well enough when playing the AI - but - give that situation to a GOOD player and the result is a game that can go out of balance - fast. I suppose that is why so many PBEM Players want "house rules".... but that is also why there are mods, B
