I do this every couple games and it totally sucks. Anyone know if there is way to reset the sort logic on Design screen if you accidentally or on purpose clicked one of the column headers to resort?

The column headers are nice and all, but once you do a sort that way, then you are stuck forever only being able to see the list in one of the column type and ascending/descending order.

The default list before you ever touch the column control is much nicer - it sorts kinda both by size and functional group.

For example, all your spaceports are listed together, small to larger. But once you touch one of the column controls, you will never be able to have your spaceports listed all together like it was by default.
e.g. if you clicked column for cost or size, then it resorts all based on that one criteria. Whereas the default order is kinda a custom order.

I tried clicking on every column header or clickable on the screen but can't find a way to get default sort order back. Anyone know if this is possible?

Clicking the far left column header and then changing the filter setting might do it; not sure, though, since I usually don't pay attention to the sort order in the designs screen. I know that this works in the Ships list, though.

Maybe if you rename the designs then alpha-sort, then rename back to the desired names?

Found it accidentally. I think. Don't want to re-test it till after this game over for fear I will mess it up and not be able to get it back again.

While trying to resolve something else (my all designs set to retrofit automatic issue despite being marked manual retro), I went into policy screen to flip the setting from R&D section from automate to manual, and then back to automate again. I was hoping to 'unstick' the AI that seemed to have gotten stuck on auto retrofit everything including designs marked manual retrofit.

Anyway, as part of doing this flip R&D designs from auto to manual and back to auto again (with let game run 1 sec between each policy change) - somehow my Designs screen want back to awesome default sort order.

So I guess if this works, the way to unstick this in future is just flip the setting from auto to manual back to auto (or vice versa. Maybe a full policy change just reverts the design screen back to default.
