Luidzi -> [WAD] Chaff hit probability bug (10/20/2015 5:54:44 PM)

I've found an inconsistency during testing different weapon seekers against different defensive systems. Standard chaff has only 10% probability of decoying a missile with early 1970 seeker, like SS-N-2d, SS-N-7, SS-N-9, SS-N-12, while it has 30% Pk against a seeker a generation older (late 1960, AS-2) and 20% Pk against a seeker a generation younger (late 1970, C-801). It looks like this behavior affects all weapons equipped with early 1970 seeker regardless of type of the weapon. Chaff has also a very high Pk against an early 1960 seeker (SS-N-2a, SS-N-3a), almost a double of other decoy systems. Included is table with results. Tested in Command v1.09 RC11, build 746, DB3000 build 440.

Because of 1 file limit per post I include the test scenario in a separate post.

Hi,

This is by design. Early radar seekers were hilariously susceptible to chaff. This was one of the big reasons that Israeli FAC totally dominated their Syrian counterparts in the battle of Latakia.

This has also been cross-confirmed for other same-gen seekers like the one fitted on early SS-N-3s.

Without being able to test right now to see if the post numbers are correct, but is it also WAD that the early 1970s gen dips to 10% and then late 1970s goes back up to 20?

Dimitris -> RE: Chaff hit probability bug (10/21/2015 3:00:33 PM)

Need to check this to confirm. Is this persistent across occasions?

ComDev -> RE: Chaff hit probability bug (1/12/2016 7:20:06 PM)

Fixed 1.11 (and possibly 1.10).
