Salut 您好,hello, Buenos Dias

Here some ideas .

1) For IJA focus hardly on Ki44 Tojo asap. In my mind the best aircraft with good speed and high rate of climbing. Maybe IJA ki 44 can defend main islands in spite of IJN land based fighters.

2) cut the burma road at Lashio by Airborne forces

3) invade Ceylon early to support far west subs blockades and supply lines raids

RagingKrikkit -> RE: Tokyo Rose will bloom - No Patrick (A) (10/22/2015 11:52:12 AM)

Wait, I thought we were going with "The Trifecta of Failure"? Ah, whatever.

I took a look at the Tojo and Oscar, and the latter boasts better manuverability at low altitudes. I'll double-check it against the manuver ratings of the likes of the P-40 and Spitfire/Hurricane, and if ours is superior then perhaps we should give them "the Dive" in return for an edge in a turning fight. Whichever way we go, I'd sleep easier if we had the Nate phased out by the time good Allied fighters show up en masse.

Just looked it up: while the Tojo is better armed, the Oscar has an extra hex of operational range and is much more manuverable, particularly below 15k, to the point where it csn probably fly circles around a Warhawk.

As for Lashio, I was scanning around the LCUs, and the 1st Raiding Regiment caught my eye. It's really more of a BN, but they have a dedicated transport sentai with them, and if we ship the two into Bangkok I can make the jump from there.

And going for Colombo off the bat, huh? That's ballsy. I'll have to look through the reinforcement list, but I expect any amphib TF to face opposition from Hermes' Swordfish and a ground-based squadron plus any TBs he salvages from Hong Kong/Malaya and a pile of Blenhiems/Wirraways escorted by the AVG the moment he finds out what we're doing, not to mention the RN surface fleet, to include Repulse and PoW if we don't get them on the 7th. If we're going to attempt this I suggest commiting 3 CVs minimum, 4 preferable, full KB probably not needed but wouldn't hurt if they have nothing else to do, along with multiple CA/BB TFs to sweep the harbor and blockade the harbors, possibly also hitting ports up the coast of India to shut down relief efforts. The AVG starts with damned good pilots, but if we can swarm them with Zeroes then we may be able to kill off some of their best pilots before they turn into quadruple aces.

"The Trifecta of Failure => lol

Tojo vs Oscar = as far I know speed is more important than man so focus on tojo

Lashio air assault = i think it may run . then transport ENG and classic infantry unit. But We have to test against IA before. We have time to do this.

Colombo is a good victory points spot. I agree we need a large combined operation to do this.

Arrgh,

I got so many questions re the planning of AC and vessel production.
I think we should set up a team speak session tonight. If we cock up the production of AC and Patrick is as good as you say we are in trouble :)

What do you think?

Brgds
Joerg

***

Well , as Joerg is the most experienced player and the industry manager I think we suggest, he ll decide.
So let s reply to Joerg what we need about AC and vessel prod. .

***

My AC view

IJA (just my idea, let s follow the Krikkit plan)
Ki-46-III Dinah (jan 43) Land Reco Ha-33
Ki-44-IIa Tojo (sept 42) / Ki-44-IIc Tojo (mars 44) / Ki-83 (oct 45) Ha-34 / Ha-43
Yes only 2 kind of aircrafts for IJA cause jap bombers payload are too weak.

IJN
E13A1 Jake, E13A1b Jake (nov 44)Patrol and island Reco Ha-33
G3M3 Nell (mai 42) Patrol (first aircraft with radar) / transport / torpedo attack Ha-33
H6K4-L Mavis (sept 42) Airborn infantry transport (22 hex !!) Ha-33

Of course we need some Zero and val replacement but as carrier aircrafts ll be quickly obsolete I think to shift to land based aircrafts. Ask IJA to defend islands with his better fighters and limit IJN carriers to indirect strikes and aircrafts transport.

About vessel
I want to keep safe the big units (after 6 months) to avoid an early decisive battle. Also BB cost so much fuel and cannot reload easily . So i suggest to stop BB prod.

Well I let you decide. About quantity i don t know. Maybe half part of units will be busy on training duties and don t need upgraded planes.

RagingKrikkit -> RE: Tokyo Rose will bloom - No Patrick (A) (10/22/2015 4:29:21 PM)

Okay, I'll give the Tojos a shot, though I'd like to keep producing a few Oscars for longer range missions. All production of Ki-36 Ida and Hitachi (early) may be ceased immedeately, as I intend to phase this aircraft out ASAP. However, I would like to continue production of the Sally line, to allow the Netties to focus on torping, and because I hear they make decent ASW platforms.

As for the airbone operation (an air assault involves jumping from helicopters), there are a pair of 18kt xAKs in port at Kagoshima that should do the trick nicely. If speed is of the essence, we can load them as an amphib TF with load troops only. In other news, we will get another airborne unit in mid January that I propose sending to Balikpapan if we haven't gotten there yet.

And wait for the Nates to go away before you start calling my fighters superior.

TinySumo -> RE: Tokyo Rose will bloom - No Patrick (A) (10/22/2015 11:26:54 PM)

Hi General Krikkit,

I talk with the War Minister yesterday. He asks you , as a first objective, to open a supply road to the south.
More longer the road is more safety ours ressources will travel to japan.
A Singapore to Fusan will be a glorious achievement .

TinySumo -> RE: Tokyo Rose will bloom - No Patrick (A) (10/23/2015 11:00:09 AM)

.... strategy point with the war ministry ....

quote:

About china strategy

For china our goal should be to open a land route into SE asia so we can use the land shipment rules from Singapore all the way to Shanghai or even Korea. Saves on shipping and minimizes the losses.
I suggest that you plan for a three pronged attack: Changsa from Wuhan, In the middle move north after HK falls and from the west out of French indochina. Move the tank and arty units from Korea into China. You dont need to clear the coast but keep the rail lines open or clear them. We can clear the coast later.

Malaya:
here we have the option to keep the lading sites as they are now or shift the main Landing to Mersing cut over the peninsular and cut off the retreating units from north Malaya.
As a follow up landings at Khota Baru and Kuantan can be done later. If you do the Mersing option make sure you have support TF with BB's and air cover.

Phi:

Go for Jolo with a AF support unit asap. Jolo is a good AP. Focus on one ladnign point with a good AF on Luzon. Try to block the retreat the Bataan if you can.

DEI:
North Borneo with the good AP at Singkawang should be our first attack point. I suggest to re-route the Kuching invasion to get Singkawang
If you can have an SNLF land a Merak on Java. Maybe with a Fast Transport TF if you can find the ships.
Maybe plan for a quick push towards OZ. Ambon, Kendari, Koepang are well developed AF

Burma:
just the usual plan I suggest. Whats your opinion on an early invasion of India? invade india doesn t give extra units to allies ?
Use the CV's to support a landing along Chittagong - Diamon Harbour - Akyab?

SoPac
Rabaul and north New Guniea as usual. The 2 islands SE of Kwajalein have resources. PM is not wortrh the effort I think. Yes it is a strong base but there is no base that has resources that is threatend by it. Unless we want to threaten OZ from that direction let the Allies keep it. I think OZ is better to attack from Timor.

Sub
I am planning to harass the sea lanes out of the middle east and Africa with LR subs equipped with planes. I will convert a few LR AK's to AV's whcih I can use as single ship scouting force with a float plane Squadron attached to it.(exactly what I was to do)
The other area I plan to deploy is the sea lanes to OZ. There is will be more difficult to deploy AV's si I will reply on you LR flying boats for recon in addition to the plane equipped subs.

Navy:
Keep the CV's together. We need to preserve our assets as you rightly pointed out. Don't go to a fight with penny packets. If its worth to take then allocate all resources we have otherwise it is not worth the risk.
If we do deep penetration raids by surface TF's we need a support group with AO's and AE's. The problem is the Japanese cannot use to resupply ammunition while on the way. The AE alsways has to be disbanded in a port. - Might have to convert a few AK's to AE's

Convoy system:
I prefer to manage my convoys manually. I usually have Singapore, Manila and Surabaya as the main ports where I ship the resources before transporting them to Japan..
For supply needs, we need to setup a system so we always have supplies needed for operations.

Joglinks1 -> RE: Tokyo Rose will bloom - No Patrick (A) (10/24/2015 10:25:50 PM)

we got the first turn underway.
My focus on production of AC is:
IJNA: Increase the production of the CV capable AC's. I keep the G3M in production. It will be the first plane getting radar.
Research: I want to get the D4Y in production asap. The bomb load is twice the one from the D3A so I moved some R&D to speed things up. Fighteres I opted for the A6M5 and JM2 for the navy fliers. All other Fighteres will be too late in the game. I might switch to the N1K but that will depend on the situation in 43.
Bombers, recon, patrol etc is the usual. I took out all the R&D for the fancy jet and rocket planes.waste of time.

IJAA:
Fighter choice is the Ki43. We will split this in 42 when the Ki44 becomes available but we need to ramp up production of the KI43. Bombers we decided to focus on the Ki21 to be later replaced by the Ki49. I keep some Ki51 on prdoduction for the time being and the Ki48.
Research: Ki44 and the new Ki43 variant. Ki49 to replace the Ki21. we might keep both in production.

No its over to the Admiral and General to issue their orders

PaxMondo -> RE: Tokyo Rose will bloom - No Patrick (A) (10/24/2015 10:49:37 PM)

Oscar is offensive fighter. Tojo is defensive. That is the main difference. Or to use better nomenclature; Oscar is an escort fighter and Tojo is an interceptor.

TinySumo -> RE: Tokyo Rose will bloom - No Patrick (A) (10/24/2015 11:18:41 PM)

Got it tks Pax. I missed that we need offensive fighters.

RagingKrikkit -> RE: Tokyo Rose will bloom - No Patrick (A) (10/25/2015 2:18:08 AM)

I suggest we do the Ki-44 IIa instead of stock. A little bit slower max speed, but better cruise speed, maneuverability and climb rate.

And to add to this - if you have PDU off there are very few squadrons that upgrade to Tojo. A whole bunch upgrade to Oscar (and some of the Nates also upgrade to Tony and Nick). The Tojo is fine, but no need to go overboard with building them.

TinySumo -> RE: Tokyo Rose will bloom - No Patrick (A) (10/25/2015 8:54:18 PM)

that makes sense. tks uncivil engineer

TinySumo -> RE: Tokyo Rose will bloom - No Patrick (A) (10/28/2015 6:19:27 AM)

quote:

Tokyo Rose (alternative spelling Tokio Rose) was a generic name given by Allied troops in the South Pacific during World War II to what they believed were multiple English-speaking female broadcasters of Japanese propaganda. The broadcasts were aimed at Allied forces in the Pacific, with the intent of lowering morale.[1] "American servicemen in the Pacific often listened to the propaganda broadcasts to get a sense, by reading between the lines, of the effect of their military actions."[2] "She often undermined the anti-American scripts by reading them in a playful, tongue-in-cheek fashion, even going as far as to warn her listeners to expect a “subtle attack” on their morale."[3]

Iva Toguri is the most famously-linked name behind the Tokyo Rose persona. Toguri was a native to Los Angeles and was stranded in Japan because she was visiting her family when the war broke out.[1] Toguri’s prominence saw her branded as one of the war’s most notorious propagandists, but evidence shows that she was not a Japanese sympathizer. Toguri’s program became conflated with more vicious propaganda,[3] and she was arrested and convicted of treason after the Japanese surrender. She was released from prison in 1956, but it would take more than 20 years before she finally received an official presidential pardon for her role in the war.
