Dear admirals

I m a Yokosuka SNLF Fanboy. Use these units as musch as possible in my Tokyo Flower campaign. let me know if you think it is pointless or must ? Let me know some targets that you think valuables.

Dec 8,1941 PHI Batan Island, Cabanatuan airfield and Atimonan are captured

Welcome Sumo. Paras are fairly fragile with limited replacements. I only drop where I have good Intel and likely success. When playing IJ tend to reserve them for early-mid 42 drops: South of Darwin, island clearing in PI, Burma. Usually to cut off, isolate enemy units or accelerate an advance once local breakthrough has been achieved.

As allied you get a few units to use as emergency stop gaps early on. Need additional caution of roving IJ fighters catching transport planes in air at a hot spot. Later in war I use them as above with early war IJ paras. You get a full US Rgt around late 43 I think...but again, limited replacements so use them carefully!

Paras combined with Japanese long-ranged transport like Tinas and flying boats are a force that makes Allies behave honestly, garrisoning their rear bases on supply lines. Getting Burma road cut from the start can accelerate the fall of China quite some. I personally also like them for the ability to easily paint over all those dot hexes in DEI and Pacific.

Yep +1 to clearing all those dot bases. Although my first choice is use a naval landing company in a couple of tramp freighters once the defended areas are cleared out. You can air drop paras on a dot base with coast/island with no airfield and pickup/recover with flying boats.

Slightly off topic, but as allied use flying boats to help rescue units before over run as well.

Recently used the unit to drop on Point Blair in early January '42, a great way to get this island without the need for ship transport.

This is a must do for me very early in the war. I want to make sure and get Pt. Blair before the Allied player has a chance to reinforce that base.

Just checked my notes. I took Pt. Blair with the paratroopers on 23 Dec 41. Then, fly in some engineers and start work on that airfield!

Oh I use them on clear enemy base =, 1001 KuU divided by 3 groups, transport with 90% rest. So I drop only 13 soldiers each time.
why the replacement is limited ? [&o]

Replacement rate is only a couple of squads a month ... very slow. IRL, these were highly trained personnel ... very expensive.

Meh. Against the AI, everything is fair game. Against a human opponent, there are those (myself included) that think that dropping a single squad of paratroopers on a 1600 square mile (more or less) hex and thinking that they're capable of (IRL) controlling that terrain is "gamey". It unrealistically exploits the game engine.

I do like the larger Yokusuka assault SNLF units. With an AV of 90, they can do some real damage to the enemy if employed properly. [8D]

Personally, I'd say that dropping 13 men into the middle of enemy territory is more suicidal than gamey, but if we assume that those men are more Green Beret/SEAL (or perhaps even Delta) than just airborne, then it makes some sense that they're waging gurella warfare to cut supply lines, ambushing convoys and keeping the enemy from wanting to move trucks through, and moving a unit into that hex means that the manhunt going in since the first hit finally paid off.

Except that as the game code is written, the impact is not that of a single squad of Green Beret. The impact is better and more solid than that capable of being exercise by a Wehrmacht Korps holding 46 miles of steppes frontline.
