towtow59_MatrixForum -> Barbarossa DCG Questions (11/4/2015 11:16:24 AM)

I am trying to find the files for the three Barbarossa DCGs, but I can't find them in the East Front folder with the other DCGs. Are they somewhere else or are they hard coded in some way?

What are you looking for, I am not sure I understood your question.

Are you looking for the DCG definition files the Campaign Mode uses for creating the battle (scenario) files? Or are you expecting to find the scenario files themselves?

How it works is each battle is created on a fly, so there are no pre-existing scenario files with Dynamic Campaign Games. Linked Campaign Games do have their scenario files existing though.

The DCG files for the 3 barbarossa campaigns are special in that they were combined into one fileset. You can find and edit this fileset like any other DCG, the various files have the generic names like "Campaign.dat" and "location.dat" "weather.dat" "forces1.dat" etc.

This was the original Talonsoft "East Front" DCG and except for the OOB's the files are generally untouched since 1998.

Thanks simovitch, I had not realised this. It seems that all the DCGs listed in the chardesc.txt, ...

  • Operation Barbarossa - North
  • Operation Barbarossa - Central
  • Operation Barbarossa - South
  • Operation Typhoon
  • Moscow Counteroffensive
  • Case Blue
  • Citadel and Beyond, and
  • Operation Bagration

.. use these standard files with no prefix based on the DCG name in place.

Then, all the newer DGCs, listed in chardesc1.txt, ...

  • Polish Tragedy
  • Winter War
  • The Honved in Russia
  • Winter War
  • Romania's Struggle
  • New Roman Legions
  • Operation Uranus
  • Winter Tempest
  • Budapest to Vienna
  • Storm on the Reich

... use files with the prefix, so for Polish Tragedy they would be "Polish Tragedy-location.dat" "Polish Tragedy-weather.dat" "Polish Tragedy-forces1.dat" etc.

I've been having computer trouble recently so I couldn't reply earlier, yes this was what I was looking for.

    Thank you for the help!
