winkr7 -> RE: Tutorials for WitW (1/14/2017 8:19:03 PM)

We appreciate the effort. But you need something that tells us why this game is fun.
I know that seems like a nasty remark, but an explanation about why we would want learn all this might be nice.

I mean, do I really want to be the quartermaster in a game?

radic202 -> RE: Tutorials for WitW (1/14/2017 8:19:27 PM)

Awesome! Un gros merci!

It's like walking into sushi restaurant and then have the waiter explain to you why you would need sushi :)

But okay. Maybe you should read a game review or something?

the good thing is you can play this game at a number of levels. The supply rules - ie delivery, storage and usage - follow what you would expect. A huge army in a region with poor communications and small depots will struggle regardless. As an eg, try putting the main allied effort in late 44/early 45 through the Vosges/Jura. Equally the air war you can hand 100% to the AI, let the AI guide you (with trade offs as to the level of manual control) or micro manage manually.

so you can place yourself where you want in the level of detail. The reward is an engaging and challenging exercise in managing (or resisting) the application of strategic warfare, long term planning and trying to make the most of fine differences between the armies at the operational and tactical level.

Oh and the 1942/3 N Africa scenarios are simply great fun, streamlined, low intensity etc

solops -> RE: Tutorials for WitW (1/15/2017 4:49:33 PM)

This is great stuff but, I'll never read any of it because it is online. Is there a PDF to download?

mashkis -> RE: Tutorials for WitW (1/30/2017 11:11:35 PM)

Too bad I missed this post during the holiday sale. Now, will need to wait for WitW to come on the 50% sale again.

Quick update to add Gunnulf's excellent AAR to the list of links.

Sorry but I don't have time to create PDF versions of even my own tutorials and wouldn't want to create them for others work unless I got permission. Just use cut and paste into a word document and read that way?

As for the odd comment about needing something about why the game is fun. That is not the purpose of this thread, it's just a list of threads (nothing more or less) that can help people, that ALREADY know they want to play, to improve their understanding etc. It's your own job to decide if the game is for you (checkout reviews etc) and if you want to read the tutorial threads or AARs. So either read or don't, your choice [:D].

Chuske -> RE: Tutorials for WitW (2/25/2017 8:55:28 PM)

Added thread where Loki replies to a new players question on setting depot priorities

Chuske -> RE: Tutorials for WitW (8/24/2020 2:42:03 PM)

Added GloriousRuse's excellent "A Few Lessons From a Beginner" thread to the list (see Campaign Strategy section).

If anything else useful has come out in the last year or two, please get in touch as I've not been around much, so prob missed a lot of useful thread's

LarryP -> RE: Tutorials for WitW (12/27/2020 2:29:32 AM)

I can't thank you enough for this valuable resource! I've been wasting my time looking around YouTube, but now I have a list that beats everything I have been doing. Thanks!!! [&o][sm=Cool-049.gif]

All working fine for me, the links link to where they are supposed to and not back to this thread. That is on a windows laptop with Firefox. Might be worth checking links on other threads or trying on a different device as I cant replicate your problem. Maybe ask for tech support?

Sorry cant be more help

MarkShot -> RE: Tutorials for WitW (7/31/2021 6:34:20 AM)

I am not sure why, but they are working for me now. :)

Thank you very much to all who have contributed here!

MarkShot -> RE: Tutorials for WitW (8/2/2021 1:59:39 PM)

The problem has something to do with Safari on an iPad.
