Hey all,

I am looking for a WW2 multiplayer turn based game. Preferably one with a grand campaign, but would settle for Western Front. PBEM or something similar would work well.

We have about 4-5 guys all wanting to play and are looking for something that will work for that even if it isn't ww2.

Thanks in advance.

Before to buy anything I recommend you to look carefully the features. There are many operational/strategical games, some are easy, some are difficult. The following are easy to learn but difficult to master.

JT Strategic War
Strategic Command Global conflict
Europa Universalis IV. This is not a WW2 game. No PBEM available but you can play with your friends online (Steam). Excellent game!! Get in on sales (75% discount on christmas).

Commander Europe at War is more playable than those games in my opinion, and Gary Grigby's World at War is also a good candidate.

I believe CEAW is a head on 1 to 1 in multiplayer, I could be mistaken..

CEAW with the free Grand Strategy expansion is great for multiplayer, has plenty of realistic features and is highly playable and challenging.

Europa Universalis IV is not turn-based. All of the players need to be online at the same time in order to play that game.

shollowell-

World in Flames is the best. Available on computer or tabletop. Everything else pales in comparison- [:D]

Not a huge MP gamer, but had the best time of my life (so far) with Order of Battle Pacific here at Matrix.

But WiF is the best [;)]

Gary Grigby's World at War looks like Axis and Allies. If the newer Grigby's titles could be combined into a world war starting in 1939...

Commander series has some flaws (WWI FTR's too powerful vs land forces...but there is an upgrade).

WiF is by far the best!

Please look at the "Advanced Tactics Gold" AAR folder for "histories" of a multiplayer scenario called "GD1938", for "Global Domination". Multiple games going on right now, and many completed games to look over.

This is a worldwide campaign for eight nations, or less, starting in January 1938. Games tend to be decided by 1943, but this is still months of real time play.

The above links are current games.

Is the computer version of WiF multiplayer?

Thanks for all the replies. It's really been a help.

MWiF is a work in progress. The short answer is not yet, but it's getting there. I'd keep a watch on the MWiF forum, because it's an amazing game. For each major power you play, you are the supreme commander, controlling resource transportation, production, politics, strategy and operations. It's had more than 20 years of play testing as a board game, so the system is very balanced and sophisticated.

Cheers, Neilster
