this is your right my left of my line, just softening up the enemy lines before i march to combat

zakblood -> RE: battle shots (11/23/2015 8:23:49 PM)

centre

[image]local://upfiles/43185/039C82D66B7F4205AA1BA6FEF71D8E6E.jpg[/image]

with cannon in front and infantry in line behind, with my cav units behind them, the order is to wait

zakblood -> RE: battle shots (11/23/2015 8:24:12 PM)

right

[image]local://upfiles/43185/453AF0BCA5394DA6B4EA9048B0976D81.jpg[/image]

with some cav units just going out of view, the right flank my left is well protected

zakblood -> RE: battle shots (11/23/2015 8:24:43 PM)

centre low

[image]local://upfiles/43185/5988124B3F6E4EE89FD07C94466ED013.jpg[/image]

i pan the camera down for a closer view

zakblood -> RE: battle shots (11/23/2015 8:25:22 PM)

centre lower

[image]local://upfiles/43185/DFDF9AFCAE594436B62C296E10C2D1CC.jpg[/image]

i again pan down lower, seeing the sky in all it's glory with the clouds moving across the sky, not a clear sunny day by all accounts...

zakblood -> RE: battle shots (11/23/2015 8:25:52 PM)

centre to enemy low

[image]local://upfiles/43185/4025340F856548A68429AAB9777C37CE.jpg[/image]

with the tree's and shrubs covering full sight, i fire at what i can see, and hope there's nothing approaching from where i can't

zakblood -> RE: battle shots (11/23/2015 8:26:45 PM)

right flank ground

[image]local://upfiles/43185/64A8E26E30C4489288957CAB2B05C7DF.jpg[/image]

now i'm at ground level i only see what my gunners see, and when there fire for any length of time, that isn't much tbh

zakblood -> RE: battle shots (11/23/2015 8:27:19 PM)

air burst enemy

[image]local://upfiles/43185/6AAB606E65BB4F7F865599E661D0ADF9.jpg[/image]

i zoom in on the enemy and see there troops lying in the distance taking cover from my guns, with there guns retuning fire, with the smoke covering and masking there presents as air burst shells explode overhead

zakblood -> RE: battle shots (11/23/2015 8:28:04 PM)

in line waiting for the command to go into battle

[image]local://upfiles/43185/D0C93AF7C8564D9E80E94314D3E3D5B9.jpg[/image]

me troops wait in line as the guns fire and softening the enemy force before i give the command to advance to contact and into history and glory[&o]

zakblood -> RE: battle shots (11/23/2015 8:52:38 PM)

elsewhere along the front, we bombard a set of houses / before we storm Château d'Hougoumont

Here's one from a multiplayer game last night - Waterloo scenario, army scale. Time for the Old Guard to punch through..

Nice screenshots there. Very dramatic.

Mr Digby -> RE: battle shots (1/15/2016 7:19:54 AM)

Don't like that Old Guard shot, the columns are far too close together. How could any of those battalions make a single manoeuvre?

zakblood -> RE: battle shots (1/15/2016 7:31:30 AM)

as soon as you go to the largest battles, 300k on the field can look a mess at times and yes they are rather close, but as soon as they start to move they make better spacing anyway, it's just i've taken it at the start of battle as they are moving from there starting positions, where it's more about formations and looks than being ready for battle, more like a dress parade that battle ready shots, the AI is much better than i at doing distances tbh regarding formation moving

e_barkmann -> RE: battle shots (1/18/2016 9:32:53 PM)

densely packed French infantry columns in a Napoleonics battle, who would have thought! Quelle horreur! :)

Mr Digby -> RE: battle shots (1/19/2016 8:20:08 AM)

They were not densely packed in the manner shown. If a brigade has its columns that close in reality you tell me how each one would form a column of divisions or a line?

Columns of march like that were used only on roads on one behind another as a formation snaked its way to a forming up point before a battle. You'd never see a formation like that on a battlefield.

zakblood -> RE: battle shots (10/14/2016 9:59:42 AM)

if there's any place anyone would like to see shown, please ask[;)]

zakblood -> RE: battle shots (10/15/2016 8:01:23 AM)

have both DLC's, so if anyone wants to see a given part or a certain item, just ask, away tomorrow for a week, but can do any screen's and upload them for others to look at any time[;)]

Jace11 -> RE: battle shots (10/15/2016 6:32:26 PM)

I was interested in seeing how the famous Tombe de Ligny is depicted on the map. These games are known for their historical accuracy and it's a structure that has always intrigued me. Any screenshot taken from it should give a commanding view towards Ligny and would be great as an observation point in HITS play, but I imagine any formation standing on it would look kind of odd though.

Looking east from the Tombe de Ligny towards St. Amand (Napoleon stood here on the Tombe de Ligny to watch the Imperial Guard attacked the Ligny).

the same view today in real life

[image]local://upfiles/43185/76BFD5D88A0240F7BF5690F99393F215.jpg[/image]

does seem rather flat from the view, while it was a small hill, it had gradual slopes so not as shown in your picture tbh.
