wodin -> So who's happy with their purchase? (11/26/2015 4:08:28 PM)

From my viewpoint I'd be shocked if someone wasn't.

Who else hopes this brings in a new wave of wargames that try something new and different?

Who will buy anything released next using this engine?

I think it should win any Wargame of the year awards...

I'm going to stop raving about it I think now:)

Michael T -> RE: So who's happy with their purchase? (11/26/2015 4:10:51 PM)

I am happy. But I want a better OOB.

I really want this game extended to 45 :)

wodin -> RE: So who's happy with their purchase? (11/26/2015 4:11:40 PM)

No harm in wanting more!

zakblood -> RE: So who's happy with their purchase? (11/26/2015 4:11:56 PM)

wodin -> RE: So who's happy with their purchase? (11/26/2015 4:12:53 PM)

Call me a fanboy..I don't care as I know the game is well worth bearing that label.

zakblood -> RE: So who's happy with their purchase? (11/26/2015 4:14:46 PM)

[:D]fanboy[;)]

wodin -> RE: So who's happy with their purchase? (11/26/2015 4:16:20 PM)

zakblood -> RE: So who's happy with their purchase? (11/26/2015 4:18:04 PM)

well you did tell me too[8|][:D]

matters little to me what i'm called either, if i enjoy something i'll give up my time to support it, if not i stay clear and out of the comments, some or most of the time anyway[:)]

Michael T -> RE: So who's happy with their purchase? (11/26/2015 4:19:04 PM)

I remain objective.

WilliePete -> RE: So who's happy with their purchase? (11/26/2015 4:26:33 PM)

I'm loving it, but then all of us DC owners knew it was going to be good game. All I can say is that wargamers should feel lucky that we have Vic making these unique games.

I'd like to see Vic go in two different directions for his next few WW2 games. First, I'd like to see Barbarossa get extended and cover more of the war. However, what I would really like to see, and I feel you would agree with this Wodin, is a smaller scope game at the battalion/company level. Would like to see smaller unit tactics to include, bridge blowing, ambushing, ect. Linked smaller scenarios would be nice as well.

wodin -> RE: So who's happy with their purchase? (11/26/2015 4:33:22 PM)

God yes WilliePete..a Coy scale game would be eye wateringly fantastic.

Michael..yes I know I should. However I think being someone who isn't normally a massive fan of wargames this scale it really has impressed me in ways I never thought a game of this scale could.

so do all the testers[;)]

as nothings perfect and there's always room for improvement, glad to see you're onboard and hope you enjoy it and make it grow into something more special and better than the sum of it's starting parts, you should maybe have been on the beta, as input is always welcome, same as idea's and impression and all feedback, good or bad, now go see if you can take Moscow and keep it, as assaulting is one thing, but keeping hold is a totally different ball game[8|][:D][;)]

then and only then, try the harder of the 2 sides imo, if the German side isn't hard enough and tackle the Russians, the bear starts sleeping, but doesn't stay like it for long, and soon awakes and is hungry for revenge, while not a step back is written, and forward is a long long way, i'm sure you will find a way to conquer it, and be the General of the day[8D]

RCHarmon -> RE: So who's happy with their purchase? (11/26/2015 4:51:16 PM)

I will wait for Michael Ts recommendation. I he still likes it in two weeks I'll get it.

And I really hate the cartoon characters and want a mod for them and the map.

zakblood -> RE: So who's happy with their purchase? (11/26/2015 4:56:25 PM)

watch the feed on twitch as well, for extra info later tonight, then his review, makes sense as if you like his review and trust him, it's better than a strangers review and impression / opinion from elsewhere tbh[;)]

Queeg -> RE: So who's happy with their purchase? (11/26/2015 5:11:33 PM)

This is the only wargame to really grab my interest in quite some time. The other recent offerings just seem like some variation of the same old thing - often just an uber-detailed same old thing. This one is a fresh approach.

It must be personal preference because Ive always loved the Eskubi portraits and artwork in the DC games. Im tinkering in the Community project to add similar artwork for late war and a tiny bit of US artwork.

tombo -> RE: So who's happy with their purchase? (11/26/2015 5:36:54 PM)

Hi all,
...can someone who played, provide specifics to the unique features here? Is it just the RP or other changes too?
I have the other DC games.
On the fence to buy at moment. But will soon. [;)]

cheers.

It made me forget my problems, the worlds problems, eventually it dawned
on me that my wife had finally given up. Had not heard her voice calling
for what 3 or 4 hours? (at least she kept bringing cups of coffee). Was
immersed 6+ solid hours. My only problem...keeping my panzers fed!

Would like to take time to Thank Vic,Cameron for a great QUALITY product.
You do not find that all the time these days. Also the beta guys, who I am sure must have helped in their own way, making this a solid game on release day.

Confirm me, as a happy customer!

wodin -> RE: So who's happy with their purchase? (11/26/2015 6:29:11 PM)

I normally grow bored of games with in two weeks (if that) apart from a select few which are the ones that never leave my hard drive. I was testing this for more than two weeks and I still enthuse about it. SO it's going to be a another permanent install which on my PC is a very exclusive club.

devoncop -> RE: So who's happy with their purchase? (11/26/2015 6:49:19 PM)

Simply THE best game out of many many I have bought over the last few years.

Great job

Kumppi -> RE: So who's happy with their purchase? (11/26/2015 8:31:19 PM)

Very good game. Love the decisions and role playing elements. Only problem is that I know it's going to end in early 42 even though I'm not even two months in. I hope they extend the time period with an expansion. One for every additional year [:D]

morvael -> RE: So who's happy with their purchase? (11/26/2015 8:57:24 PM)

I'm happy with my purchase, though for now I only had time to enjoy the manual [:)]

Templer_12 -> RE: So who's happy with their purchase? (11/27/2015 5:43:25 PM)

I tell you when I receive the hardcover book...

MrLongleg -> RE: So who's happy with their purchase? (11/27/2015 6:57:27 PM)

Quite happy too. A great game and it requires you to think hard - no easy walking over the AI. Even after having pocketed quite some Russians by August I was facing 3 hex deep Russian front lines. Especially in the center.

gunnergoz -> RE: So who's happy with their purchase? (11/27/2015 7:09:13 PM)

Loving it though I now wish I had enough $ at the time to purchase the box version so I could get the hard copy manual. Maybe that will be an option later?

Do hope for more command decision focused games like this that encompass other time frames and even other theaters. So much more than 99 per cent of other war games I've played. It is genius to actually put you in the shoes of the historical figures for a few minutes.

Phoenix100 -> RE: So who's happy with their purchase? (11/27/2015 7:27:49 PM)

I think it depends on your taste. Clearly many like the concept. For myself, whilst enjoying it, the map and the unit size really detract from the immersion. A company level iteration (or even regiment) would be great. But I think the map is so important for me that a mod which just put more detail in would solve a lot for me. Every single hex has a town in it, more or less. I would like to see them. Ditto the roads. I would like to see someone looking at the real world map and trying to represent it properly. I don't really understand why the map is so basic. The same thing put me off DC:CB, which I also, nevertheless, bought.

Aside from that I'm slowly getting into it. But it doesn't honestly seem that different from WitE, for example, to me, in game play terms, at the basic level where it runs (shifting counters). I've yet to see the AI do anything impressive, but it's very early days for me. I'm still hoping.

Sorry, all this raving about it makes me feel cynical. My glass is always half empty.
