sandman20 -> (4/14/2003 1:21:41 PM)

1-1 this time. Russkies lose T-34/85 in exchange of Brits Churchill VIII.

Looks like Brits are preparing to receive Soviet tanks from the south, they are creating wall of tanks to the edge of woods.

Running total:

SO: 123

BR: 125

Squirmer -> Turn 17 (4/16/2003 1:10:25 AM)

1 - 1 again. T-34/85 for a Staghound.

Wonder if we can take the southern VHs ... :)

Running Total: BR 126 SO 124

sandman20 -> 1-0 to Commies... (4/16/2003 2:15:14 AM)

Only one British Comet killed at my turn, so it went 1-0 to Soviets.

I wait some Russian casualties at Squirmer's next turn, since I left some T-34's to bad situations. :(

Running total:

Soviets:124

Brits:125

Squirmer -> Turn 18 (4/16/2003 3:38:03 AM)

3 - 0 to Brits. One of these kills was stupidly lucky. A bottom hit from a 105mm (M4) HE shell fired using the Z key. Never seen that before ... :)

Running Total: BR 128 SO 124

I'm sure this will be a draw according to the game but who will get more points?

sandman20 -> (4/16/2003 6:50:48 PM)

3-2 to Soviets this turn. We killed two Fireflies (couple of lucky shots also, from a long distance) and one Churchill VIII.
We lost T-44 and IS-2.

This will be a draw indeed, and more points to you I think.
But if you agree, I would like to challenge you to a rematch with swapped sides, same rules etc, you're just Russkies and I'm Teaboys.;)

Total:

Soviets: 127

Brits:130

Squirmer -> Turn 19 (4/16/2003 10:11:56 PM)

6 - 2 to the Brits.

I have been surprised with the number of kills from HEAT rounds carried by the close support tanks i.e. Churchill VIII and Sherman IB-CS (M4 105mm). These tanks can also be used as mobile arty for suppressive fire, which is nice :D

Running Total: Brits 136 Commies 129

Yes a rematch would be cool. I don't think I'll get any T-44s though, very expensive and not much better than a T-34/85. This game has been very educational :)

sandman20 -> Almost over... (4/17/2003 2:35:12 PM)

I've noticed that same thing, T-44's are too expensive and not much better than T-34/85;) , educational battle, as you said Squirmer.

2-0 to Brits again, I have major problems at long range fights:(

Total kills:

Soviets: 129

Brits: 138

Squirmer -> Turn 20 (4/19/2003 12:21:19 AM)

Best turn of the game for the Brits, 11 - 3. A nice way to end :)

sandman has one turn left to see what he can do with his few remaining tanks ...

Running Total: BR 149 SO 132

sandman20 -> (4/19/2003 1:06:48 AM)

The last turn went 2-0 to Brits.
Battle ended as a draw,more points to Brits.
Here are the total points:

Soviet Union : 30392

Britain: 38768

AFV Losses:

Soviets: 146

Britain: 114

At the end of the battle Brits held all other VH's but southern ones was in the Soviets hands.
British Challengers and Comets was better in long range combats and Squirmer's tactics was better than mine IMO.;)

I had too many tanks in the south, so the Brits run me over in the middle and norhern fronts.
Good and interesting game Squirmer, let's play a rematch some other time, when you've some extra freetime ;)

My password to map is "tankwar".

Squirmer -> Put the Kettle On Lads! (4/19/2003 1:50:16 AM)

I really enjoyed this. Bit of a mammoth undertaking though, early turns took a looong time.

Like I said very educational. If I was playing the Soviets I would have definitely got a lot of SU-100s. Relatively cheap and the best gun they've got. Other than that I would have had at least a few IS-3s. They do have an ammo problem but being virtually indestructible they can cause real problems for the opposition. I would probably have got some ISU-122s as well.

It's all about penetrating power and hitting the target :)
