Flashfyre -> Sgt. Brors, Hero of Carentan (4/23/2001 10:58:00 AM)

I just had to post this "mini"-AAR for everyone.... Utah/Rhine campaign, second battle (the clearing of Carentan): Airborne troops have advanced about halfway through the city, encountering light resistance. A recon patrol, led by Sgt. Brors, has taken a position in a stone multi-hex building along the German axis-of-advance. StuG-IIIs, FJ infantry, Flammpanzers, and halftracks moving north to engage. Across the open ground, US paratroopers and engineers are waiting in ambush. M4 105s and M5 Stuarts are rushing to the rescue. Suddenly, at 150 meters, a StuG pokes it's nose around the building. The paratroopers and engineers fire, sending the commander inside. Buttoned, the tank advances. At 100 meters, Brors holds his fire. The troopers fire bazooka after bazooka, but no effect. Behind this one is a StuH-42, with a 105mm gun. Moving past the StuG, it rolls under Brors' position. His men assault the StuH-42.....failure. The brute turns it's gun on them, and BOOM!....3 men casualties. Brors is alone. He snaps....rallying himself (from 70+ down to 2), he grabs the bazooka. KaBOOM!....the StuH brews up. The StuG fires, with no effect. Behind it....a Flammpanzer tries to sneak by. Brors takes aim......CRUMP! The panzer goes up in flames. Suddenly, the StuG lurches forward...right under the window. Brors, maddened by battle, leans out and.....BLAM! The bazooka round goes through the hull and knocks out the drive system. Immobilized, the StuG is easy pickin's for Brors. Another round and the StuG cracks open like an egg. Hearing the sound of treads, he looks up. Here comes another StuH-42. Gathering his courage, he charges the behemoth. BAM! A third Wehrmacht assault gun is knocked out. The tally: 2 StuH-42s, a StuG-III, and a Flammpanzer knocked out. By Sgt. Brors and his bazooka. Alone. And he isn't part of my core force!

[QUOTE]Originally posted by Tortfeasor: [QB]What do you mean with that AAR thing. please, where can I find abbreviations for War-Words. AAR is After Action Review (or sometimes Report). It's a synopsis of an action, either real or training. In real life militaries it's used to study what happened, both right and wrong, to as to increase force proficiency. Here, it tends to be used as a battle report, to share your fights with others, and, perhaps, eventually, also as a training tool, if people critique the battle. Alex
