adamc6 -> Newbie Question (12/9/2015 9:55:49 PM)

Gang: player of WiTP, but not AE until now.

What happened to the AI control of certain commands? I don't want to fight the war in Burma, I just want to wage amphib and carrier warfare in the South Pacific!

I can't find anything in the manual or on any menu.

thanks for the assistance!

AC

They're gone. I liked the China one myself.

Cheers,

I tried once to play with China and Burma-India disengaged but it became clear everything in every area is connected, and you can't realistically ignore parts of the game. For example, who decides whether British ships can help the US in SoPac if they are available because of the 'quiet' situation in Burma-India? What about all the merchant shipping that is now available? Can fuel be drawn from Abadan to send down to Oz?

I think you have to use the whole map but nothing stops you from sending the Chinese and Burma-India forces to defensive positions and leaving them there for long periods without further attention. Set up CS auto-convoys to send some supply to India and only react when the Japanese do something drastic.

In The original WITP, if I remember correctly, you could set up areas of the map for AI control. In AE there are "quite China" scenarios in which the Allied forces inside China ,and IJ, will slowly become a non factor in the game. But you still have to fight for Burma and India. I'm not sure how far the AI will go into India after Burma is captured. Probably the areas along the border.

In terms of ships, I use the ships where the need is. So advance planning is necessary and you can't move everything. You must have something available for operations of necessity.

Fuel can be pulled from anywhere and shipped anywhere. Your only limitation is escorts. What I do is create a string of bases along the rear areas and move fuel, supply, oil and resources along this string. I use the faster tankers, cargo ships and some escorts to move fuel and supply from the rear areas to the forward bases. This can be setup using CS, but you have to monitor it to make sure nothing is backing up.

Hope this answers your question....GP

The Japanese AI will take all of Burma and will take bases along the coast to Chittagong, but will stop short of the Imphal line and Ledo. India itself is never in danger from the AI.
