Major_Mess -> SPWaW 2016 - Now Available (12/25/2015 12:55:25 AM)

A Christmas Gift from The Depot to you.

On top of all the goodies bundled with the previous version (ENH-FR V1.1) SPWaW 2016 includes all of the below.

45 new or revised Encyclopedia entries
43 new .lbm Unit pictures
49 revised sound files – we found that some of the original and/or ENH FR sounds were better than what was issued with V1.1.

An adjusted mech.exe file branded with SPWaW 2016.

And last but not least, the real reason for the upgrade.
Over the last few months a team at The Depot started to go through all the OOB’s to fix the few glaring errors that still populated the game. As work progressed more folks came onboard, people came out of the woodwork. Interest grew, the scope got bigger as more hands reached out to help.
Much discussion ensued; the passion for this fine game was evident from the start. The collaboration from all parties was superb.

I’d like to thank JustaToy for all that he did, his contribution was absolutely essential to this project.
DROregon’s assistance was huge, and JEB Davis’s encouragement kept it all moving forward. Lastly I gotta give Alby as much acknowledgement as possible. The dude drove this project waaaaay past what I had ever hoped to achieve.

Thanks Guys

Truly I felt part of what the Internet promised us so long ago. An arena for like-minded souls from around the world to create something wonderful.

The end result was that every OOB in the game was scrutinized.
Over 850 data points that have been adjusted in this update. Anything and everything was looked at, then the necessary changes were implemented to ensure that the Enhanced-Final Release standards were being used throughout the game.
I think we have right here the most complete set of OOB’s ever.

All Campaign fixes, and newly updated Scenarios have also been included in the Download.

You can get to the Download via the Link in my sig.

Enjoy
Cheers to y'all

Thank you sir,

your push to remake this title helped bring this to a new level of completeness. downloading

Major_Mess -> RE: SPWaW 2016 - Now Available (12/25/2015 1:34:39 AM)

Thanks Zap.

There's one item that still needs to be dealt with.
The Artillery bug on modern boxes.
I'm not that deluded that I think that Matrix will expend ANY energy in looking at it.

Sooooooo, I'll see if I can fix it.
I dunno how, doesn't matter. Don't ask, won't tell.

Hey! Do you think they would give me permission to tear in to the mech.exe??????

Let my people crack it open and fix it?
Waddya think?
Fix the artillery screen issues.
Adjust the arty ToT settings.
See about increasing the resolution.
Hahahahahaha ........ That's just for starters.

Erik ................ Lemmee at it!
TIA

Watch this Space.

Cheers

Major Mess, I applaud to your work! [sm=00000028.gif]

Matrix authorities! How about handing SPWAW source code to Major Mess like SSI handed the original to you? He just could get something done with it.

Yes

NO [&:]

I followed the instructions. I downloaded the win7spwaw.cmd file, run it => it has to modify something (ok) but the colours are still messed up. Any idea? [&:]

edited: OOPS! Yes it works. I forgot I already had the game installed! [:D] That's where I pasted the cmd file, and obviously no mech.exe file on that folder to run the game! The spwaw 2016 was installed in a c:depot subfolder.

Hi guys,

Looks great, glad to see this.

I'm planning to give the members of the SPWAW community the first chance to be part of Steel Tigers early in the process, we're just still working on enough architectural stuff now that we're not quite at that point yet. I would very much like to have strong SPWAW community involvement, input, feedback, advice, etc. and make sure we bring the best parts of SPWAW and all the great work the community has added forward with the new engine to secure the future of SP-style gaming.

Regards,

- Erik

Guys,

I've been out or the loop playing Barbarossa for review. Is SPAW 2016 stand alone on an add on to the base SPAW?

It's a stand alone product.
The full meal deal.

Many Thanks. Downloading now.[&o]

Moltke71 -> RE: SPWaW 2016 - Now Available (1/8/2016 11:48:23 PM)

Fantastic job!! I can't believe I haven't played in years. In my dotage, I'm thinking about giving up writing reviews and just playing. SPWAW is a great example why a game doesn't have to be new to be premier in its genre.

Moltke71 -> RE: SPWaW 2016 - Now Available (1/9/2016 12:03:18 AM)

The icons seem smaller. What res are you guys playing at?

Major_Mess -> RE: SPWaW 2016 - Now Available (1/9/2016 12:07:28 AM)

I'm p sure that I set the icon size to the smallest on the Preferences screen. You could fiddle with that.
I run the game full-screen on a 1680x1050 monitor.

Edit: and a big honkin' Thank You for your kind words Bismark. I'm just chuffed that so many people are liking it.

Moltke71 -> RE: SPWaW 2016 - Now Available (1/9/2016 12:20:19 AM)

What would be the largest size in preferences? I wasn't able to get it above 3.

Major_Mess -> RE: SPWaW 2016 - Now Available (1/9/2016 12:28:46 AM)

Bismark

From the Field Manual supplied with SPWaW 2016:

• Unit Icon
This value determines the size of the icons that appear on the Battle Map.
Range is from: Large: XXX to Small: 3

When you get a chance, you should spend a few moments looking at the F.M.

cheers

MM

Moltke71 -> RE: SPWaW 2016 - Now Available (1/9/2016 12:53:53 AM)

Did that and went to 10 but no change. Is there an accept button somewhere?

OK, I hit ESC and got XXX. That's the largest, I suppose.

Major_Mess -> RE: SPWaW 2016 - Now Available (1/9/2016 12:58:17 AM)

Ummmmmmmm,

Try this .. Type a 0 or a 1 in there. See how that looks. I'm on a stupid iPad right now so I can't check for you.

It would be nice if it supported an i7 processor.

Yes it would.

I'm working on finding a solution for that right now.

Keep the Faith.
