SeaMonkey -> The Mechanical SC3 Thread (12/25/2015 5:03:30 PM)

For anticipation of the arrival of SC3 mechanics for discussion in this new year of 2016 this thread will hopefully catalyze some developer comments on what will be new(remote hints) and what will be kept from the SC series of the past.

1. Supply: same, slight modifications, different, or vastly changed?

2. Movement: strategic and operational with some tactical concepts?

3. Combat: modes, air, ground and naval.

4. Unit attributes: the algorithms of features like morale, readiness, experience, leader enhancements, etc.

5. Terrain effects, a semblance of the past or some imaginative tweaks?

6. Game ending victory / defeat evaluation parameters.

There are more, sure some of the loyalists would like to add, but likely the usual non-interaction will make this a "one post pony"!

Before I resume my Winter slumber, my guess, in that Beta has not even begun, we are still a year away, perhaps this time next year!

ZZZzzzz

I am glad you're looking forward to this. I am open minded to whatever is to come I haven't seen a grand strategy ETO in such a long time.

As for fine aspects there are a lot of titles out there that have great qualities. Though balance got knocked off. I remember my favorite war game release in the past 3 years has been (new one) Commander The Great War. Great interface, beautiful and very smooth. Then they got bogged down in actually breaking a working interface. Was odd... I don't know if they ever fixed it. Though too many little tweaks you can actually destroy a game. Though the wrong kind lead to over exploitation. I remember the old SC1 and I absolutely adored it and SC2 was extremely deep. I don't think I ever mastered the 2nd game engine at all. Just so much detail... still all the little bits and pieces add elements for future game play.

7. Scenarios: Will there be a scenario using the smaller map from the SC1/SC2 series? For a faster playing ETO game with fewer units.

So any chance of double airstrikes by TAC bombers?

How about armies of high supply and readiness?

Hopefully we'll see smaller formations have a lesser chance of taking damage by combat as their footprint decreases(manpower shrinkage).
