RedLancer -> New Scenario: Britannia (1/9/2016 12:05:01 PM)

This scenario is a pure flight of fancy which I'm posting only because players seem to have enjoyed 4OHL. I have always been fascinated by equipment that never quite made it in time, if at all, and this scenario includes a whole range of them. This scenario is a modification of the 43 scenario and is based on the premise that in Aug 40 the British make big changes to engine development. The Rolls Royce (RR) Vulture and Peregrine are cancelled as is the Napier Sabre. Engine production is concentrated with RR for inlines and Bristol for Radials. Development is focussed on improving the Merlin and Hercules and longer term work on the Griffon and Centaurus. In game terms the Sabre powered Typhoon and Tempest V are replaced by the Griffon powered Tempest III and the Centaurus powered Tornado and Tempest II. The Whirlwind gets new Merlin engines. No Sabre means no MB3 crash, Val Baker survives, and the MB5 enters service. I can now add other Centaurus powered aircraft like the Buckingham, Shetland, Warwick, Manchester Mk II, Buckmaster, Brigand and the Hawker Fury. Things are not all additions though. The British do not get many of the Lend Lease aircraft. Only Kittyhawks and Baltimores are still provided. With better tank production the British do not get any Shermans (although the Canadians do). Extract the zip to the Dat folder to include the new artwork. This scenario has not received the usual official extensive testing so if you think things could be improved let me know. Have fun.
