Level II Update Link 2.81
https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ap7XOIkiBuUwhYkPWBftMFiZG1s8EQ

This update substantially corrects slight errors in road and trail art
and the corresponding pwhexe.dat files near Lake Baikal. A total
of four hexes are affected, none of them significant. Three involve
art changes and one a pwhexe.dat change.

All the WINTER pwhexe.dat files for all years, including game start,
are affected (by the upgrade of a single half hex of trail to secondary
road) in order to match map art (and actual roads).

The WPEN02 panel is also corrected. This is a universal map art
panel - for all seasons - so it is not in any of the seasonal map art
sub folders - only in the top level art folder. This affects three hexes -
two adding a half hex of trail art and one adding three half hexes of
trail art.

As well, all variations (about ten) of a standardized US merchant ship
class (C2) are updated, because for some reason it was rated with
too low speeds for full speed and cruising. These changes automatically
update all ships of these sub-classes - because of dynamic links. Even
so, it means that the ship files are also updated.

It is possible there are documentation updates or other scenario data
eratta updates - but I don't remember any of either. They are copied for
safety reasons.

Finally, there is a WPEH07 - note the H - panel. I made it before and
it should be in the installer, but was not. Mifune has repaired his system to
the point he wanted to make hex panels - but I realized the one that I made
before was almost perfect - adding two labels made it up to date. So I did
that and included it here. We may have more hex panels from Mifune in
due course.

I have begun working on the Spring pwhexe.dat files - which is how I found
the eratta between the pwhexe.dat files and map art in Central Asia. The Spring
1942 file will take some time to make - but the rest will follow immediately on
the same day. And that is next.

Level II Update Link 2.81
https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ap7XOIkiBuUwhYkPWBftMFiZG1s8EQ

This update is substantially map related. It includes many new map panels
with hex art - these being converted from non-hex panels modified to RHS standards.
Note that the WPEN (no hex) panels are all issued - but the WPEH (with hex) panels
are not. This is rapidly changing because Mifune has been able to get to work now he has some hardware operating (after various issues including a flood!). Note as well that in my view panels with hexes are not needed because RHS should be played with hexside details on. However, we are not completing the set, as promised. The only problem with playing using the hex art just now is that you will see, in the far North, a lack of ice where in fact the hexes are blocked by pack ice. You won't see that if you use the non-hex art.

There is a considerable reworking of Japanese HQ - entirely with respect to the HQ type field. I have become confident enough in how code works to program properly. Allied HQ have not yet been updated.

There are a handful of eratta worked into other data files and into RHS documentation files.

Request installation instructions. The link gives me a file caled RHS Installer.msi which my machine treats as Powerpoint file but cannot open it as it is invalid.

streckerstd1942 -> RE: RHS Level II Update 2.78 (comprehensive) (2/21/2017 1:37:24 PM)

Maybe a wrong association *.msi with powerpoint ?

Nice job about China. With logistical, the heart of pacific war - my point of view.

Dig and stockpile

m10bob -> RE: RHS Level II Update 2.78 (comprehensive) (2/22/2017 1:24:51 PM)

Has anybody heard from Sid recently?
No contact in a while?
I have tried direct contact.

btd64 -> RE: RHS Level II Update 2.78 (comprehensive) (2/22/2017 1:47:42 PM)

I'll send him a text message....GP

m10bob -> RE: RHS Level II Update 2.78 (comprehensive) (2/22/2017 3:10:11 PM)

Thank you...Bob

I live an breathe. Got involved with some historical
research and it got complicated. As well, I volunteered
to do some public service, taking some of my time.
Finally, I am waiting for a technical art problem to
be effectively solved by Mifune - when it is I will do an
update.

Well - it sure won't work under Powerpoint - it is supposed to unpack as a bunch of files
into your AE folder (dedicated to RHS if you have one). At least two people have trouble
with the Microsoft cloud (OneDrive). If you are one of those, send me a message and I
need to feed you the files in packages via email.

el cid again -> RE: RHS Level II Update 2.78 (comprehensive) (2/23/2017 2:09:27 AM)

Just tested the upload. It is working fine for the
latest RHS Level II update.

LargeSlowTarget -> RE: RHS Level II Update 2.78 (comprehensive) (2/23/2017 4:34:19 PM)

File association in my Windows config is ok - .msi = Windows Installer, .ppt = Powerpoint.

But my Firefox treats your linked file as "RHS Installer.msi.ppt" :

btd64 -> RE: RHS Level II Update 2.78 (comprehensive) (2/23/2017 5:45:26 PM)

Use Google or IE. Both work but google has been the best so far....GP

JohnDillworth -> RE: RHS Level II Update 2.78 (comprehensive) (2/23/2017 6:25:11 PM)

just righ click and rename the file and eliminate the .ppt part

Yaab -> RE: RHS Level II Update 2.78 (comprehensive) (2/23/2017 7:03:05 PM)

Yeah, just eliminate the .ppt and you a get the .msi file. The .ppt part is just FOW.

LargeSlowTarget -> RE: RHS Level II Update 2.78 (comprehensive) (2/24/2017 7:28:20 AM)

Thx guys - the file extensions have been set to "hidden" on my machine, after changing the option I was able to erase the .ppt part.

m10bob -> RE: RHS Level II Update 2.78 (comprehensive) (2/25/2017 1:47:01 PM)

FYI..I have no issues downloading the file with Firefox either.

In the past couple of weeks I have tried to send PM's to Sid thru the Matrix forum site and both times got mail failure messages from Slitherine.
A few years ago it was a problem with Sid's carrier.
Have reported this problem to the Matrix web admin's just in case...

sudwind -> RE: RHS Level II Update 2.78 (comprehensive) (3/21/2017 3:57:42 PM)

What do I have to do with Pwzlink file? There is only for winter such as 'RHS41WINTER, RHS42WINTER', so when the winter gone, do I have to change it with the 'Top level Pwzlink' named as 'pwzlink'? [&o]

Yaab -> RE: RHS Level II Update 2.78 (comprehensive) (3/25/2017 1:21:13 PM)

Good question.

Would like to know this myself.

btd64 -> RE: RHS Level II Update 2.78 (comprehensive) (3/25/2017 2:28:45 PM)

Copy and rename to pwzlink.dat (I think it's .dat) and move to the top level AE folder and replace the older one. I think Sid has some documentation within the RHS Docs folder that describes the process, and the dates to make the change....GP

m10bob -> RE: RHS Level II Update 2.78 (comprehensive) (5/15/2017 1:46:05 PM)

(Bump)...

Have not heard from Sid in a while...managed to get an e mail to him via the forum, but no response...

Been checking local papers in his neck of the woods...nothing new...

btd64 -> RE: RHS Level II Update 2.78 (comprehensive) (5/15/2017 1:52:32 PM)

Sid has been involved in a historical thing about declassified very early nuclear project stuff. I can't remember all of the details. Let me know if you don't hear anything and I'll try to contact him....GP

TY GP...I think I sent my e mail to him maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago and he usually gets back with me?
I had worked with him on RHS 1 as well, and that was maybe 5-6 years ago?

I was one of those "givverment" investigators at one point, and have some interesting talents in locating, contacting, etc....but as posted, nothing at present...

m10bob -> RE: RHS Level II Update 2.78 (comprehensive) (5/17/2017 1:10:10 PM)

Update..With the help of our friend General Patton, I was able to speak with our friend Sid last night and in his words "I am fit, do not even take aspirins, and never felt better".
Sid (as usual) is busier than a one legged man at a butt kicking contest, and while I have collaborated with him off and on for years, I had never spoken with him by phone.

Gadzooks!!!..This man is a genius!..
I have a pretty high I.Q. myself, (if my Dean of Boys in High School can be considered truthful as he explained his angst over my many fights in HIS cafeteria, LOL), and always felt myself pretty fortunate, since education has nothing to do with it.

Sid is so far beyond that level and once his good health was confirmed, he immediately went onto a verbal recitation of his research, (game related), as if he were somehow still on the same topic he last posted!!!
While he has always impressed me with info he has brought to the game, last night I was served an exclusive treatise on atomic research done by Japan, and as Sid spoke, he was rattling off his many sources, printed and verbal.

I remember maybe 6-7 years ago, some folks here on the forum, (mostly no longer with us), were calling Sid a "phony", but I am positive this is not the case by any means.
Sid's genius is so high, personal matters are entirely too mundane for him to even waste time with.
I brought that matter up and he paused a millisecond, before he proceeded to quote some more sources regarding info from books which no longer exist!.
Like me, Sid has a huge personal library, and he apparently gathers rare books when quoted by some of his other books.

While I have always been a cheerleader for WITP mods, and CHS and RHS in particular, I have never till now really appreciated the minds which have contributed to this game.

I am truly humbled.[X(]

Recompiled and reissued after several issues - but possibly no changes.

I never understood why they made Sid swallow that vitriol [&:] That was not a life threatening /national security issue. It's just a game -that we love, ok, but just a bloody game FFS! [:D]

Redownloading the latest update, as the Gulf Coast hex was not working (pwhex thing).

m10bob -> RE: RHS Level II Update 2.78 (comprehensive) (6/6/2017 3:58:37 PM)

I added the ARD-2 class floating dry docks to my copy and Sid made all the off maps work perfectly from this most recent file.
He also named one place "Northern Midwest...which I might rename "Chicago/Indianapolis" in my game for personal and historical reason.

btd64 -> RE: RHS Level II Update 2.78 (comprehensive) (6/6/2017 4:03:22 PM)

Indianapolis doesn't have a port. stick with Chicago....GP

I'm still trying to figure out that one. Port Columbus is the airport. Although the name has been changed to John Glenn international airport. So in conclusion, Columbus doesn't have a SHIP port....GP
