jphamel -> Promotions during campaings? (3/30/2003 11:24:28 PM)

Is there a way to slow down the screen where the promotions appear at the end of a battle.

This thing just flash on my comps and I don't have time to read who gets promoted, just a flash. I barely have time to see the word "Promoted".

I checked in the prefs but did not find anything.

Just in case: AMD Duron 1100mhz, 256mg ram. Voodoo 4000 32mg AGP

There surely is a way to slow this down?

Thanks!

You have to turn the message delay up. The same one that controls the in-battle messages controls that. If you think a battle is close to ending, turn the setting down to catch the promos. It sucks if you guess wrong and the battle drags on for three more turns, and you have the setting turned up. Makes the turns REALLY long, lol. I think 100=1 sec (between messages), 200=2 sec, 250=2.5 sec, etc...

jphamel -> Thanks (3/30/2003 11:43:44 PM)

Thanks Goblin.

Never used this setting cause as you say, makes the turns really long!

That answer was as fast as the promotions screen.:D

Lol, I turn the delay down to 10 for that same reason. I usually guess fairly close so that I can change it, but I have been off by several turns before.

One trick... When you think the end of the turn will end the game, save it. Then adjust the setting, and end turn. If it doesn't end the game, go back to the save and play the turn at your normal setting. Repeat if you think it will end the game at the end of your turn again.

Should've known the answer would come from you Goblin, you seem to been the only one who is spwawing around the clock.

Oh! I know "A goblin does not work in winter" but I think your hibernation is nearly over, if it's not already!;) :D

Thanks again for tips Goblin!

Lol, yeah, my boss is gonna drag me out of my cave very soon.:(

Ah well, there is always next winter....:)

Irinami -> Um, guys? (3/31/2003 9:58:55 PM)

There's no need to guess. Unless I have a special version, my 7.1 has you save the game after it determines victory. Only then does it promote, improve, etc. I've ah... been er... known to heheheh, well, reload that save if only one or two units improve in a battle where I've destroyed a great number of units. It appears sometimes you'll get a few more to improve. ^_^;;; *embarassed a bit*

But yeah. So save it when it automagically prompts you to. Then exit out, change your preferences to that 250 delay, and load that save.

jphamel -> Hey, your right Irinami... (3/31/2003 10:53:38 PM)

the game saves right after, then promotion.

Thanks Irinami.

Shame on you!:D

I hope I don't fall to the dark side;)

All right, I'm now a trooper!::cool:

Irinami! A Goblin only teaches the clean way of doing things, lol! Goblin's don't use dirty tricks...:rolleyes: :p

Irinami -> (4/1/2003 12:07:36 AM)

Hehehehe. Well, if a particular Goblin were going to vow to himself to always exit out and load the save game once (that is, don't accept the results that come immediately after saving no matter how beneficial they may be, and never loading the save twice), then it would be sufficiently clean, ne? :)

Goblin -> (4/1/2003 12:18:45 AM)

I confess to having taken the best results a few times... but I am reformed now, spending most of my time in charitable pursuits (like being nice to Orzel and Jess), and giving back to those that lack (like Hawk)...:D

A Goblin is Saintly? :D:D

(Sorry! I couldn't resist.)

Alas, a Goblin is modest, and must deny 'Saintly'. I am, however, quite kind, generous, giving, friendly, charitable, and unbelievably handsome...;)
