Praetorias -> Is it possible to enhance the game further? (1/21/2016 6:44:10 AM)

Hi,

I have played the game and although, if I am honest, I am terrible at Sub hunting, losing the 3rd mission I think it is, every time, NEVER seeing a sub before its torps kill me, I was wondering if it was possible to imrpove the game even further in line with one I used to play called Sub Command.

We used to hunt by listening to the sound and following tracks on the screen, noting props and the number of blades they had to work out what they were. Now, I know it would not be possible to go into this detail on this game, BUT, could it be possible that when you select a submarine unit, you get all the sounds associated with what it is hearing currently. i.e. if it senses the noise of a ship or sub, you could hear this whilst playing. it would be more immersive. hearing under water sounds etc...

Just an idea....

Game version?

And a simple hint: sub can't attack air unit, so let Seahawks do the searching and hunting, while your Burke to stay away from the sub area.

If you got subs however, you can press F2 to manually override the speed to Creep or slower. That allow your acoustics to hear things out easily.

While generally true, several Soviet cold war subs have SAMs, lost more than 1 P-3 to damaged subs forced to the surface - very annoying[:D]

Praetorias:

You need to be methodical, slow and use every advantage. Mix of active dipping sonars, active & passive sonobuoys, aircraft with MAD, ship & sub VDS. Search above, below and in the layer.

Speed is death unless you have a torp hunting you down.

Anti Submarine Warfare is not dubbed Awfully Slow Warfare for nothing![:D][>:]

I forgot to write "effectively". Sub crews have few MANPAD that even P-3C can be threatened, but it has very paethetic range compare to a proper, radar-guided SAM. Besides, it has to be surfaced to engage aerial unit, which will be instantly spotted, and becomes a target for ASMs.

Missiles like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IDAS_(missile) can be launched when totally submerged. Usually sub-launched SAMs have mast launcher, so sub has to be at periscope depth. here is no need to be totally surfaced.

IDAS

Heard about it before, along with A3SM from France:

Both are not in DB3K, unfortunately.

Need more details, sorry [8D]

Yea, both have really limited information available.

But would this be enough for IDAS? http://www.diehl.com/fileadmin/diehl-defence/user_upload/flyer/IDAS_07_2008.pdf
