So what does this mean? Does it work or not? How can you enhance and improve something that doesn't work?

I only ask because I want to buy this game for my cousin, but don't want to do so until NetPlay is fully functional.

Lots and lots of fixes. Some of us beta testers are about to start NetPlay Global War. Last time I tried it, we got to MJ40 before finding a problem with saved oil that was a game stopper.

We'll post results.

Great. Look forward to hearing the results of your test. If it succeeds, an AAR would be awesome.

We are working on getting a new Public Beta out in the next couple of weeks, expressly for testing NetPlay.

Here is one of the recent changes that will be in that version that the beta testers liked:

January 20, 2016 - For NetPlay, added a Review Game button to the opening Splash Screen when restoring NetPlay games. The Review Game button is only visible for NetPlay games. Clicking on the button restores the game locally. That is, the program does not connect to the Internet. Instead, the player is able to review the state of the game, looking over the map and using other forms (such as the Pools form), to see how things stand. The player is not able to advance the game, since the End of Phase button is disabled. The purpose of this new capability is to enable players to study the current game situation and make plans. It is also useful for writing After Action Reports, letting the player take screenshots off-line, without requiring the other player(s) to be connected to the internet.

This is a great addition for MWIF and will turn Netplay from nicetohave into needtoplay. Good call.

I was on the fence between keeping on playing via TeamViewer or porting to Netplay when ready.

Now I will most likely want to use Netplay when it works well enough.

Cheers

Yep. Excellent addition :)

Cheers, Neilster

Isn't that the same concept like "Vassal"?

Vassal is in a completely different category.

Yes, it's like comparing a cart and a car.
