Mentioned this before but didn't get an official response, running into this again in a new game; 1-21-1943 GC Germany vs AI Sov. AI is getting a ton of Guard unit status in 43 with units with 0 wins 0 losses or very lopsided ratios (0-11, 0-5, 1-11, etc). Is this intended? At the rate in which they're flipping to Guard, their entire army will be guards soon.

there is a routine that gives either a player or the AI a load of Guards in 1944 if they have very few. I guess the allocaation is pretty random and think its designed to even out the end game

Just had an art support unit that went Guards with a 0/0 win loss. Does going Guards mean anything practical?

much higher morale, +5/+10 on the baseline for their unit type. For an off map support unit like artillery not too important but decisive for on-map units or the sort of support unit (like sappers) that will be added to front line combat
