How do you activate or use a hero card. I see it next to hero but cant figure out how to use. Thanks

It automatically applies any bonus FP or range. Other abilities have buttons on the action bar that become available along with the usual ones. In other words, click on a hero or leader with a card, and note any new buttons that come available in the action bar at the bottom of the screen.
