deadsunwheel -> Access Violation Error (2/13/2016 1:54:29 PM)

Hello,

I am trying to play a PBEM++ in the Steam version of the game with a friend but I keep getting an Access violation error. When this happens the game seizes up and all the orders issued are lost. I have tried deleting and reinstalling the game but that did not seem to work. Do you have any advice?

Which game version are you running?

deadsunwheel -> RE: Access Violation Error (2/13/2016 2:21:06 PM)

It is version 2.0.10bs running on a windows 10 machine.

I have had exactly the same error , since the last update, also exactly the same config - 2.0.10bs on Steam.

Also my friend and I have been playing PBEM, and it will get to within about an hour of the end of the game, and then it will refuse one side or another the ability to enter orders....and then you cannot complete the game. The last one has just done this with 8 hours to go - very, very frustrating as this is an otherwise excellent game, one of my all time favourites that was working perfectly until the last patch..... wtf has happened :(

I would strongly suggest that you guys and your opponents update to the 2.0.11.1 beta. It solves a number of these types of bugs and a few others. It does still have a couple odd issues we are currently working for an 11.2 beta release soon, but they are not "game breakers" like this issue you have. You need both parties in a PBEM to be on the same version for thins to work.

I am having trouble with updating the the Beta as well. An error message pops up on me reading Invalid file name - %s. when I try to run the exe.

Go to the game folder and rename the existing FPRS.exe to FPRS.bak, then move/copy the new 11.1 beta FPRS.exe into the folder and run the game. Should boot up fine. Let me know if that helps/works.

Hi,

I am also running version 2.0.10bs and receive a different access violation error (attached), when trying to move to scenario 2 in the Russian campaign.

Could you please advise the best course of action?

Thanks

CapnDarwin -> RE: Access Violation Error (3/16/2016 3:07:58 AM)

Obyekt432, that bug is fixed in the 11.1 beta. If you go to Red Storm in Steam and go to properties and opt in to the beta, the game will update to 11.1 and later this week to the recently updated 11.2 beta. The 11 Betas fix a host of issues we had with the 2.0.10 update. The campaign bug being one of them. We are hoping for an official release of 2.0.11 in early April.

Hi Capn Darwin,

Thanks, that worked - appreciate the quick response.

Cheers,

Had the same error msg playing A Time to Dance against the computer. That's the reason why the AAR I posted was not up to par. Kept having to find a save file that would work.

JohnObs and I will be playing a PBEM game (Fulda) and we'll be posting our strategies and turns in separate posts in the AAR forum. It should be a good test of the beta's PBEM system

Bootlegger, what game version are you running that was throwing the error message for a single player game?

bootlegger267 -> RE: Access Violation Error (3/17/2016 9:58:42 PM)

I was running 2.0.10b

CapnDarwin -> RE: Access Violation Error (3/18/2016 12:15:33 AM)

That would do it. Have you bumped up to the 11.2 Beta? Fixes a ton of issues.[8D]

JohnOsb -> RE: Access Violation Error (3/18/2016 1:12:25 AM)

Yes, he has, we're going to try a PBEM with that version, we hope [:)]

CapnDarwin -> RE: Access Violation Error (3/18/2016 3:12:00 AM)

Good to hear. Enjoy the PBEM game!
