Bender -> Current Events (4/2/2003 7:18:16 AM)

Greetings,

I wanted to start a topic based on CURRENT EVENTS. This is due to the loss of a site that was dropped due to derogatory/rude postings in response to a point of view. Very unfortunate! I am confident, that the topic will provide enough information to get started. I am new to this whole procedure, but am sure that the moderators would like to keep it civil. One of the things I miss the most are postings from news sources. The forum regulars had insightfull and/or different insights than others (as well as myself:-)). It was (is, the forum will be back) a great source of information that was not subject to only one point of view.

I will leave it at that.

Regards,

Bender (a.k.a. Vader)

Hello Bender.

Hmm you have me curious and maybe a few others too.

Lost site? Ok take the tiger by the tail, what site?

Come on man spill the beans :)

Regarding Current events though, we call that realm the province of the Art of Wargaming forum here at Matrix.

Be advised though, we keep our nasties in there.

Here in General Discussions land, we rarely discuss politics, it often gets to nasty (nature of the subject).
Most threads that get nasty are immediately moved to Art of Wargaming (where the non Art of Wargaming population of the Matrix forums prefer them to go).

Although just about anything else is fair game in here in General Discussions (as the threads might suggest).

If rough banter is your scene fine look no further than Art of Wargaming.

I can also suggest

http://www.wargamer.com/forum/wargamer/

http://www.battlefront.com/index.htm

http://www.warfarehq.com/forums/index.php?s=

Although each site will basically offer about the same fare.
They all have a sub forum where politics can be discussed, but it usually gets hairy in all of them.
All have fairly good specialty areas devoted to popular games.

And I enjoy all of them.

I suppose where you wish to be, will be decided on your usual game of choice to some extent.

LOL, well said by Les the Sarge 9-1

I'm just looking for some thick skin is all. I'm more of a reader that a writer, but all is fair in topics and discussion.

By the way, here are the beans, and thanks for the direction, it is much appreciated.
