Turn 20. Nov/Dec 1942. Axis #1. IJN. Bismarck Sea. Naval Battle. Round 1.

Round 1 is bloodless with both sides failing to inflict any damage on the other.

Both sides stay. Of interest is the USN, which is heavily outnumbered in the air but stays in the hopes of avoiding further combat and to maintain supply to MacArthur's command on New Guinea.

The IJN loses contact with the USN so combat ends, just as the USA wanted.

rkr1958 -> RE: Global War AAR in Pictures (5/8/2016 5:23:04 AM)

Turn 20. Nov/Dec 1942. Allied #3. Malaya.

The sole reason that the CW took a land instead of a naval this impulse was to save Mountbatten who has pushed in by himself into Siam from Malaya. Mountbatten pulls back to the mountains of Malaya. An Indian MIL also pushes into the Malayan mountains east of Mountbatten to secure his right flank.

Southwest of all this, an Indian infantry division captures the undefended port of Padeng in the Dutch East Indies.

Turn 20. Nov/Dec 1942. Allied #3. USN. The Marianas.

The USN moves two other carrier task forces into the Marianas to reinforce the Hornet and two heavy cruisers left on patrol there in the 3 box from last turn. One of the two reinforcing task forces originated from Pearl, includes the aircraft carriers Lexington, Saratago and Yorktown and was positioned in the 4 box. The other task force originated from San Diego, included the newly commissioned and most modern aircraft carriers Bunker Hill, Lexington II and Intrepid. This force was able to make it only to the 1 box.

The USN initiates naval combat and successfully finds and surprises the Japanese fleet.
